🔷 Purpose of the Role

As General Manager – Subsidiaries & Associates, you will own and grow the contribution of CBN’s subsidiary and associate portfolio, with clear accountability for revenue growth, EBITDA improvement and value creation

This role partners closely with subsidiary CEOs, Boards and the CBN Executive to ensure strong governance, operational performance and alignment with CBN’s strategic and commercial objectives.

✨ What You’ll Do

Portfolio Performance

  • Own P&L performance across subsidiaries and associate businesses

  • Drive revenue growth, cost efficiency and EBITDA improvement

  • Lead structured performance reviews and corrective action planning

  • Align subsidiary business plans to CBN’s commercial targets

Governance & Risk

  • Ensure strong governance, regulatory compliance and risk management

  • Represent CBN as Director (or proxy) where appointed

  • Protect CBN’s financial and strategic interests across the portfolio

Integration & Value Creation

  • Lead integration of new subsidiaries into the CBN operating model

  • Partner with Platform Services and functional leaders to lift performance

  • Identify and execute commercial and operational uplift opportunities

  • Provide insight on acquisition, investment or divestment decisions

Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build trusted relationships with subsidiary CEOs and leadership teams

  • Influence performance, accountability and cultural alignment

  • Develop direct reports and leadership capability

  • Contribute to the effectiveness and culture of the Leadership Team

Preferred location: Melbourne.
We are open to exceptional candidates based in other locations across Australia, with flexibility to travel as required.

💡 What You’ll Bring

  • Extensive experience within or alongside insurance broking businesses

  • Proven success leading portfolios or business units with P&L accountability

  • Strong financial, commercial and strategic capability

  • Experience with governance, risk and Directors’ obligations

  • Exposure to M&A, integration or equity participation environments

  • Ability to influence, challenge and partner with senior leaders

  • Broking qualification or Diploma of Insurance Broking (preferred)

The Community Broker Network (cbn) came together from three separate networks: Westcourt General Insurance Brokers (established 1982), NAS Insurance Brokers (established 2001) and the CGU AR Network (tracing back to 1916).

In 2017, these three networks came together to form one strong network of approximately 400 authorised brokers, servicing more than 200,000 SME businesses.
