Job Summary

• Lead SME Banking Vietnam and deliver the P&L and Balance sheet growth targets. Deliver strategic agendas for SME Vietnam as part of overall Wealth and Retail Banking (WRB) Vietnam’s strategy and as one of Global SME Banking strategic markets. This includes focus on Network cross-border, Treasury & Transaction Management business, and joint Affluent SME proposition, and deliver digitalization projects to ensure sustainable scalability
• Lead and support people in SME Banking team to grow and deliver, with strong ability to communicate, motivate, and add value to people. Manage the business across all functions with holistic view of end-to-end process and a balance approach of all aspects of the business: sales & relationship, operations, risks (credit risk and non-credit risk), compliance, legal, collections
• Manage stakeholders in Vietnam, at Standard Chartered Group, and across geographies and corridors to ensure alignment and support for SME Vietnam growth agenda

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Execution

• Continuously review and enhance SME Banking Vietnam strategy to ensure delivery of a strong growth, high return, liquid business in the long-term sustainable manner
• Ensure execution rigour, with discipline in the chosen target segments, to deliver the balance sheet momentum across Liabilities, Assets and Revenue
• Manage cost within budget, ensure good costs are spent that deliver the returns, and deliver the required Returns (Operating Profits)
• Maintain strong collaboration and working relationship with stakeholders (Finance, Retail Analytics, Performance Management, Digital Banking, HR) to ensure deliverables for SME to operate effectively

People

• Work with and enable SME people to be able to deliver the work to their best ability. Support the Team with strategic clarity, debottleneck, and problem solving to ensure execution rhythm
• Ensure full alignment of all SME function / segment team leaders and overall SME staffs to deliver common goal
• Grow SME Talents and build up successor planning for key roles across functions within SME Banking
• Manage quality people matters with strong focus on healthy conduct and compliance practice

Risk Management

• Own SME overall risks (credit and non-credit) and manage portfolio risk effectively. Ensure alignment with WRB Credit Risk Management (CRM) as well as Group Risk Management on risk posture and portfolio strategy
• Maintain healthy risk & reward performance as per corporate plan agreed and deliver target Return on Tangible Equity (RoTE)
• Work closely with Credit Initiation to ensure strong underwriting standards, with CRM for effective credit policies that enable growth while managing portfolio credits, with Operational Risk and Compliance to manage operational risk matters effectively, and with Stressed Assets Management & Collection to manage effective collection process

Network & Affluents

• Work with SME counterparts in other Standard Chartered corridors to originate and execute cross-border businesses and support network clients in seamless manner and grow the network business as per plan
• Work closely with Affluent Banking in-country and cross-border to deliver the joint SME <> Affluent proposition and referral business

Qualifications

Key Experiences

• Strong experience in Commercial Banking background, with at least 15 years’ experience

Certifications / Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree, with Master Degree being a plus. Credit Analysis and Management Certifications are good pluses

Languages

• Excellent English and Vietnamese language command. Mandarin / Cantonese languages are good pluses
