We are looking for a seasoned sales leader to head our Pre-Owned / Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) business. The General Manager, Sales is accountable for the overall commercial performance, profitability, and sustainability of the Pre‑Owned / Certified Pre‑Owned business.

This role provides enterprise‑level leadership to shape sales strategy, pricing discipline, inventory economics, and customer value propositions, while leading Sales Managers to deliver targets set by principals in alignment with the Company’s growth objectives.

The incumbent will lead the sales function of the pre‑owned business, balancing revenue growth, margin protection, inventory risk, and brand reputation.

What You’ll Be Doing

·Own the sales P&L outcomes of the pre‑owned business, ensuring sustainable revenue growth, disciplined margin management, and healthy stock turnover.

·Define and execute sales and commercial strategies, including pricing frameworks, stock mix, and vehicle positioning aligned to market demand and profitability goals.

·Oversee quarterly and annual business planning, translating strategic objectives into measurable outcomes for Sales Managers and their teams.

·Monitor performance across revenue, gross margin, inventory ageing, and operating costs, providing clear commercial direction where course correction is required.

  • Provide strategic leadership to Sales Managers, setting clear targets, KPIs, and governance mechanisms to drive consistent execution.
  • Build a high‑performance sales leadership bench through coaching, capability development, and succession planning.
  • Ensure robust performance management, reporting discipline, and data‑driven decision‑making across the sales organisation.
  • Provide oversight on complex or escalated customer cases where commercial, reputational, or regulatory considerations apply.
  • Establish pricing and discount governance to ensure competitiveness while safeguarding margins and reducing inventory risk.
  • Oversee inventory planning and turnover strategy in partnership with Operations and Finance to prevent ageing exposure and write‑downs.
  • Maintain strong market and competitor intelligence to inform pricing, stock procurement, and sales strategies.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize stock mix and unlock additional revenue streams within the pre‑owned ecosystem.
  • Set the strategic direction for vehicle financing offerings to maximize penetration and profitability.
  • Appoint and manage key financing and banking partners, negotiating commercial terms that enhance customer uptake and income generation.
  • Ensure F&I performance is actively monitored and optimized through governance, capability building, and performance tracking.
  • Partner the Managing Director in managing principals’ expectations and nurturing trusted senior‑level relationships.
  • Represent the business professionally with principals and key external stakeholders, ensuring transparency, credibility, and alignment.
  • Ensure accurate, timely submission of business, sales, and performance reports to internal leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Uphold high standards of customer trust through transparent pricing, accurate vehicle disclosure, and effective escalation management.
  • Set expectations for showroom standards and customer experience through leadership oversight and accountability.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Degree in Business Administration or equivalent.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in the automotive industry, preferably with strong exposure in sales leadership and managing teams.
  • Proven track record of delivering sustainable growth, margin discipline, and inventory performance.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, with the ability to manage per-vehicle costs and margins and key P&L drivers.
  • Experience in pricing strategy, inventory management, and performance governance.
  • Strategic thinking with strong execution discipline.
  • Results‑driven, with the ability to balance growth, risk, and brand considerations.
