Job Description

selectability is a financially sound not for profit charity providing care services across 18 locations in regional Queensland. We employ over 950 employees and support over 3000 people. Our key services are NDIS, Aged Care and Child Safety. The selectability group includes an RTO Jobtrain (RTO 0281) trading as selectability Training.

As we continue our organisational transformation, we are seeking an experienced and values-led General Manager People and Culture to lead our workforce strategy and help shape the culture, capability and leadership required to deliver exceptional care and support outcomes.

About the role

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the General Manager People and Culture provides strategic leadership across workforce planning, organisational culture, employee relations, talent acquisition, learning and development, wellbeing, leadership capability and people governance.

This is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring our people practices support a sustainable workforce and enable the delivery of safe, high-quality care.

The role will lead the delivery of key organisational priorities including:

  • Workforce sustainability and workforce planning
  • Leadership capability and organisational development
  • Employee engagement, wellbeing and retention
  • Values, culture and behavioural expectations
  • Attraction, recruitment and onboarding
  • Industrial and employee relations
  • Learning and leadership development
  • Workforce governance, compliance and assurance
  • Organisational change and transformation initiatives

This full-time permanent role offers an exciting opportunity to lead a diverse and high-performing team of 19 professionals across People and Culture, HR Business partnership, Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) and Corporate Training.

This is a Townsville-based leadership position. The successful candidate will be expected to be based in our Townsville corporate head office and actively engage in the organisation's operations, workforce and culture. While selectability delivers services across regional, rural and remote Queensland, this role is not available as a remote or hybrid position.

About you

To be considered for this rewarding role you will have:

  • Significant executive or senior leadership experience in people and culture, human resources or organisational development
  • Demonstrated experience leading workforce strategy and organisational change
  • Strong industrial and employee relations expertise
  • Experience developing leadership capability and organisational culture
  • A contemporary understanding of workforce governance, compliance and risk
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
  • The ability to balance strategic thinking with practical execution
  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business, Organisational Psychology or a related discipline
  • Experience within human services, health, community services, disability, aged care or child safety sectors will be highly regarded.

Role requirements

  • Minimum of tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business, Organisational Psychology or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years senior leadership experience in people and culture, human resources or organisational development
  • Occasional out of hours work may be required from time to time
  • Travel to selectability’s regional sites will be required from time to time
  • A Child Safety & Personal History Screening check
  • A Positive Notice Working with Children (blue card) (or the ability to obtain)
  • NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or the ability to obtain)
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module "Quality, Safety & You" completion certificate (or the ability to obtain)
