Job Description

The General Manager (GM) Environment and Compliance is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the organizations adherence to environmental regulations, policies, and industry best practices. This role involves developing and implementing environmental compliance programs, managing sustainability initiatives, and ensuring that the company operates in line with national and international environmental standards. This position will work closely with regulatory bodies, internal teams, and stakeholders to promote environmental responsibility and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain environmental compliance programs to ensure adherence to local, national, and international regulations.
  • Monitor changes in environmental laws and regulations and ensure the organization remains compliant.
  • Lead environmental risk assessments and audits, identifying potential compliance risks and implementing corrective measures.
  • Establish and oversee waste management, pollution control, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Work with operational teams to implement best practices for environmental conservation and resource efficiency.
  • Develop and execute training programs to raise awareness of environmental responsibilities within the organization.
  • Liaise with government agencies, industry regulators, and other stakeholders regarding environmental policies and compliance matters.
  • Ensure that environmental impact assessments (EIA) are conducted as required for company projects.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports, permits, and documentation to relevant authorities.
  • Promote a culture of environmental responsibility within the organization.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in environmental compliance, sustainability, or regulatory affairs, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, laws, and standards applicable to the industry.
  • Experience in conducting environmental audits, risk assessments, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance environmental compliance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in environmental management software and reporting tools is an advantage.
