Join us to shape the future of sports gaming! We’re looking for a General Manager in Barcelona to guide the journey of a landmark free-to-play football title. You'll be the ultimate strategic lead, overseeing the game's vision, financial success, and entire development lifecycle. This is a Tier 1 project with extremely high ambition, and you’ll have full profit and loss ownership. You'll play a central role in assembling a bespoke internal team and cultivating a supportive, high-performance culture. This is a rare chance to build a high-impact title from the ground up, delivering world-class results and a standout addition to Rovio’s portfolio.
Steer the multi-year game strategy as the central executive partner, fostering trust and ensuring seamless product alignment across internal teams.
Owning the full Profit & Loss for the game, managing large budgets, and designing a world-class commercial roadmap that helps us maximize revenue.
Assembling and nurturing the core Barcelona development team, cultivating a high-performance culture
Ensuring state-of-the-art Live Operations when we get there, including fun events, promotions, and content updates that drive daily player engagement and set a quality benchmark for the industry.
Fostering a data-informed team culture, using player behavior insights and analytics to anticipate market shifts and guide all of our priorities.
You're an expert at leading massive IP-based Free to Play projects from the earliest prototype stage all the way into highly profitable Live Operations, ensuring the brand guidelines are passionately protected.
You have a holistic understanding of the current mobile games business—from product strategy and design to user acquisition and commercial scaling—and use it to guide the big-picture development strategy.
You possess absolute mastery of the Free-to-Play mobile landscape, preferably in football manager or sports games
You have a qualified, deep expertise in football and football management allowing you to genuinely connect with the domain.
You have a proven track record of leading diverse, global teams and excel at stakeholder management, building trust-based relationships and driving collaboration across organizations.
You demonstrate inspirational executive leadership with professional humility, encouraging ownership and maintaining project momentum with exceptional communication.
Deep executive experience with global contract negotiation
Enterprise-level product and market understanding that goes far beyond standard production.

Rovio Entertainment Ltd. is a global mobile-first games company that creates, develops and publishes mobile games, which have been downloaded over 5 billion times. Rovio is best known for the global Angry Birds brand, which started as a popular mobile game in 2009, and has since evolved from games to various entertainment, animations and consumer products in brand licensing. Rovio has produced The Angry Birds Movie (2016), and its sequel, The Angry Birds Movie 2 was released in 2019. The company offers multiple mobile games and has seven game studios – one in Espoo (Finland), Stockholm (Sweden), Copenhagen (Denmark), Barcelona (Spain), Montreal and Toronto (Canada), as well as a subsidiary in Izmir (Turkey) called Ruby Games. Most of the employees are based in Finland where Rovio is headquartered. In 2023, Sega Europe Limited acquired more than 90 percent of Rovio’s issued and outstanding shares, making Rovio a subsidiary of Sega.
