
Our award-winning client is seeking a General Manager to join their team. Reporting to the President, the General Manager directs and coordinates activities for engineering, manufacturing, project management, and field installation for their respective product line through a team of functional managers and supervisors. This position will have full responsibility for their division’s P&L as well as financial accountability for the company as a whole. The GM will drive operational performance and develop his or her staff into a high-performance team. In addition, the GM will join the Executive Leadership Team and help develop and execute the strategic vision of the company.
Responsibilities:
Drives initiatives to ensure continued improvement in safety, team member relations, customer satisfaction, quality, complete and on-time delivery, lean manufacturing and cost reduction.
Collaborates with the Executive Leadership Team to identify synergy opportunities among the organization. Assists with developing the project schedule to realize those synergies including the action items required, communication strategies, resources needs, and timing.
Provides leadership for team member relations through effective communications, coaching, training and development.
Participates in developing and administering company policies, directing and coordinating all divisional department activities to achieve strategic objectives and KPI’s.
Supports engineering to develop standard products and/or utilize new technology to exceed customer requirements while engineering out costs.
Supports manufacturing to resolve operational, manufacturing, and facility problems to prevent operational delays and minimize costs.
Monitors project schedules, manufacturing schedules and field service reports to ensure complete and on-time delivery.
Manages resources appropriately including partnering with the General Managers of the other divisions to share resources when appropriate.
Develops, monitors, and reports on operating costs within functional areas. Alerts Executive Leadership Team of cost and labor over run, makes recommendations and implements solutions to problems.
Identifies, communicates and drives implementation of capital investments and improvement projects.
Initiates recommendations on purchases of new equipment and improvements to plant property.
Ensures successful completion of engineering and manufacturing projects regarding safety, contract documents, budget, technical adequacy, and customer requirements.
Communicates effectively with sub-contract engineering firms to ensure clear definition of work, compliance with company standards, timely performance and accurate deliverables.
Facilitates interchange of information among customers, Sales, Estimating, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Field Services personnel.
Coaches Project Managers, Mechanical Engineering Manager, Electrical Engineering Manager, Customer Service Manager and Manufacturing Managers in methods to manage efficient design, fabrication, field installation and start-up.
Assists Project Managers and Customer Service Manager in coordinating field service assignments between project teams.
Ensures communication of field feedback on engineering or design issues quickly throughout the organization. Works with Sales and Estimating to reduce project rework and warranty costs.
Assesses long and short-term human resource needs for the Engineering and Manufacturing departments. Evaluates performance of staff, rewards, coaches, trains, and hold accountable accordingly. Provides continuous feedback on performance and assists in recruiting, selection, and onboarding of new team members.
Required Qualifications:
10+ years of Capital Equipment manufacturing experience
Strong ETO (Engineered-to-order) equipment experience
Strong experience being a manufacturer for manufacturers
10+ years of experience in impactful management roles including, sales, project management, field and manufacturing management experience.
A bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or product management. MBA or advanced degree highly preferred
