General Manager - Logistics
Location: Tanzania, East Africa

Our client, a well-established logistics and transportation business with a strong global footprint, is seeking an experienced General Manager - Logistics to lead and expand operations in Tanzania.

This is a senior leadership role with full responsibility for developing integrated logistics services, including freight forwarding and contract logistics. You'll be instrumental in growing market share, driving performance, and building a high-impact team that delivers solutions across land, sea, and air.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the logistics operation in Tanzania, aligning it with the group’s regional and global strategy

• Drive business development across freight forwarding and contract logistics, converting opportunities into long-term growth

• Oversee freight forwarding operations across sea, air, and land, ensuring efficiency and compliance

• Develop tailored contract logistics offerings, including warehousing, distribution, and value-added services

• Manage cross-border logistics and ensure compliance with regional trade regulations

• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and regulatory authorities

• Design multimodal solutions that integrate different transport modes for optimal service delivery

• Deliver on financial targets, managing P&L, budgets, and operational costs effectively

• Recruit, lead, and mentor a high-performing team, creating a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement

About You

• A minimum of 10 years’ senior-level experience in logistics, including freight forwarding and contract logistics

• Strong leadership capabilities and experience managing regional operations in East Africa

• In-depth understanding of cross-border logistics, compliance, and customer service excellence

• Well-connected within the local logistics industry, with established relationships across the supply chain

• Proven commercial acumen and experience in managing financial performance

• Hands-on approach with the ability to resolve operational issues and drive innovation in logistics solutions
