Ready to lead and inspire the future of Corporate Travel, Meetings & Events in Japan

At FCM, we don’t just manage corporate travel. We transform the way businesses connect. From corporate travel programmes to high-impact Meetings & Events experiences, we combine powerful technology, bold thinking and a people-first mindset to deliver smarter solutions for the world’s most ambitious brands. Globally & locally connected, fun & energetic, flexible, and a little unconventional; that's our FCM way!

We’re looking for a commercially driven, strategically sharp General Manager to lead FCM Japan into its next chapter of growth, with a strong focus on expanding our Meetings & Events capabilities and market leadership. This is a highly visible leadership role. You’ll be the ultimate brand ambassador for FCM in Japan with customers, suppliers and most importantly, our people.

As GM, you'll lead our Tokyo-based team while owning the complete Japan P&L and reporting directly to the Managing Director South East Asia & Japan. This role requires someone equally comfortable presenting to Japanese enterprise clients and collaborating with our global leadership team.

About the Opportunity

As General Manager for Japan, you will own the full business performance across Corporate Travel and Meetings & Events, setting the strategic direction, driving commercial success, and leading a high-performing team in a fast-moving, competitive market. You’ll combine commercial acumen with deep customer centricity, ensuring FCM becomes the partner of choice for organizations seeking integrated travel and Meetings & Events solutions.

With strong collaboration across regional and global stakeholders, you’ll position FCM Japan as a market leader, delivering sustainable top and bottom-line growth while building a culture that reflects our ambitious, energetic DNA.

What You Will Do

  • Set and execute the Japan strategy to secure market leadership across Corporate Travel and Meetings & Events
  • Drive profitable growth, owning full P&L accountability
  • Expand and elevate our existing Meetings & Events proposition from strategic sourcing to large-scale event delivery
  • Identify new revenue streams within the M&E space
  • Lead commercial performance across Sales, Account Management, Operations and Supplier Relations
  • Build executive-level relationships with key clients, positioning FCM as a strategic partner
  • Collaborate with regional and global leaders to align Japan’s strategy with broader brand ambitions
  • Partner with technology teams to ensure our digital and event platforms differentiate us in the market
  • Champion marketing and PR initiatives that strengthen FCM’s reputation in corporate travel and Meetings & Events
  • Foster a high-performance culture in attracting, developing and retaining top talent
  • Lead through clear KPIs, accountability and data-driven decision-making
  • Identify risk and opportunity, leveraging financial insight to steer sustainable growth
  • Operate with integrity and strong corporate governance

Who We're Looking For

  • Business-level fluency in both English and Japanese
  • Current work authorization in Japan (Japanese national, PR, or valid work visa)
  • 5+ years in a senior leadership role with full business accountability
  • Strong experience in B2B environments with direct commercial ownership
  • Proven track record of delivering revenue growth and margin improvement
  • Demonstrated expertise in Meetings & Events, corporate travel, or adjacent industries
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to interpret data and translate it into strategic action
  • Executive presence with the ability to influence C-suite stakeholders
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams within a matrixed organisation
  • Exceptional communicator who inspires alignment and accountability
  • Resilient, adaptable and comfortable in a fast-paced growth environment
  • Travel industry, Meeting & Events, Sales and Marketing experience (highly desirable)
  • Track record working with both Japanese enterprises and multinational corporations in Japan

At FCM, we're unconventional, always flexible, and globally connected. Come as you are, dream big, and help us transform the world of business travel and meeting and events.

Your next big adventure starts here. Apply now!

About Flight Centre Travel Group

Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG) is one of the world’s largest travel companies, employing 15,000 like-minded individuals – known as ‘Flighties’.

Our story dates to 1973, when founder Graham Turner (aka “Skroo") and friend Geoff “Spy” Lomas buy a double-decker bus and take off on their first tour around Spain, Portugal and Morrocco, 3 years later forming the first business, Top Deck. After flight deregulations in the 80s our first retail "Flight Centre" stores opened in Australia in 1982, London in 1984, and NZ in 1987.

1987 was also the year we held our first “Global Gathering” awards event celebrating our amazing people, a tradition that continues to this day.

And in 2025 we launched our very first loyalty program, World360 Rewards! Our Australian customers now able to earn and redeem points across Flight Centre, Travel Associates, and Cruiseabout.

We’re in our 40s now and a lot has changed! With global headquarters in Brisbane, Australia, our company owned leisure and corporate travel businesses span three major regions: APAC, The Americas and EMEA.

Our flagship corporate travel management brand, FCM, extends our reach even further through a network covering over 100 countries via both company-owned operations and independent licensees.

With 30 brands across our global footprint, our team spans from customer-facing to internal support roles. The opportunities just as diverse – from a Travel Consultant at Flight Centre or Envoyage, to a Machine Learning Scientist in one of our tech pillars.

Together, we live and breathe our number one philosophy, Our People, driven by our purpose ‘To open up the world for those who want to see’.

Our values are simple and powerful - Ownership, Egalitarianism and Irreverence.

We support our people with opportunities to help you thrive, connect, give, move and be rewarded. Our people have access to a suite of curated benefits to ensure holistic wellbeing – from mental and physical health to financial freedom.
