Enjoying working in a vibrant economy hotel situated beside the airport terminal. ibis Mackay features 152 rooms, with a gastro pub, TurBARlence offering pub food and craft beverage with a great outdoor beer garden, and swimming pool. Mackay and surrounds is known for it's aquatic and tropical nature spots such as Harbour Beach, Bluewater Lagoon and Eungella National Park.

As General Manager at Ibis Mackay, you will spearhead the operation of one of Mackay’s most vibrant and sought-after economy hotels. Your role will encompass a wide range of responsibilities aimed at ensuring the seamless functioning of the hotel and the delivery of exceptional guest experiences. From overseeing day-to-day operations to setting and implementing strategic objectives, you will play a pivotal role in driving the hotel's success. Your leadership will inspire and empower a team of dedicated professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration. You will also be the face of the hotel and involved in the operation, cultivating strong relationships with guests, partners, and stakeholders to uphold the reputation of ibis Mackay as a premier destination for both business and leisure travellers. This is an exciting opportunity for a senior leader or an experienced hotel general manager to make their mark.

Responsibilities for the role include:

  • Leading the overall management and strategic direction of Ibis Mackay
  • Taking a commercial lead in driving new business into the Hotel whilst connecting with the existing customer base
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, predominantly owners, guests, and suppliers
  • Ensure long term profitability of the operational departments and the hotels, maximising revenue and yielding opportunities.
  • Conduct regular analysis on all departments to continuously improve productivity, quality, market competitiveness and service standards.
  • Develop, inspire, and lead team members to create a great place to work that embodies our Heartist culture.

Qualifications

A qualification in hotel management, hospitality management, commerce or business administration would be highly regarded.

About you

  • Previous experience as a General Manager preferred, Commercial/Sales background highly regarded
  • The ability to provide strategic thought processes and direction to build market performance and business outcomes.
  • Proven strong and successful Ownership relationships.
  • Strong ability to develop, lead and motivate a team of experienced professionals.
  • Excellent project management abilities
  • A strong focus on customer service and passionate about guest experiences
