Job Description

The General Manager, Fire & Life Safety is a senior leadership role with full business and P&L ownership of the Fire & Life Safety division, including sprinkler systems and related life‑safety services. This role is accountable for life‑safety outcomes, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and sustainable growth.

The General Manager sets the strategic direction of the division and ensures uncompromising standards for safety, ethics, and compliance, while delivering disciplined financial results and operational excellence across all service lines.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Full executive ownership of the Fire & Life Safety division, including sprinkler and water‑based fire protection services
  • Complete P&L accountability, including revenue growth, margin performance, cost control, and cash flow
  • Development and execution of the division’s strategic plan, annual operating plan, and multi‑year growth roadmap
  • Absolute accountability for life‑safety outcomes, regulatory compliance, and ethical conduct
  • Executive authority for health, safety, and risk management with zero tolerance for non‑compliance
  • Ensures full compliance with all applicable fire codes, standards, regulations, and licensing requirements
  • Ensures business decisions never compromise life safety, regulatory integrity, or professional standards
  • Executive oversight of all operations, including inspections, testing, maintenance, service, repairs, and small to mid‑scale projects
  • Establishes and enforces standardized operational processes, quality controls, and performance metrics
  • Drives operational discipline, productivity, utilization, and continuous improvement across the division
  • Approves pricing strategies, major estimates, capital investments, and subcontracting models
  • Ensures strong financial governance, internal controls, and accurate performance reporting
  • Leads resolution of high‑risk operational, safety, compliance, client, or regulatory issues
  • Builds, leads, and holds accountable a high‑performing leadership team across operations, safety, and commercial functions
  • Sets clear expectations and performance standards for leaders and ensures succession planning for safety‑critical roles
  • Acts as senior executive sponsor for key clients, partners, and regulatory authorities
  • Ensures client commitments related to life safety and compliance are met without exception
  • Identifies and executes responsible growth opportunities aligned with capability, risk tolerance, and compliance requirements
  • Serves as a trusted executive presence internally and externally, representing the division with credibility and authority

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

 Expert knowledge of fire protection and life safety systems, including sprinkler and water based systems

 Strong command of fire codes, standards, and regulatory compliance in safety critical environments

 Advanced health, safety, and risk management capability with zero tolerance execution

 Proven P&L and financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, pricing, and margin control

 Ability to balance life safety, compliance, client obligations, and financial performance

 Strong strategic planning and operational execution capability

 Demonstrated leadership of senior leaders and technical teams in regulated industries

 High professional integrity, sound judgment, and decisiveness in high consequence situations

Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation

One or more of the following would be considered an asset:

Valid Driver's license, clean drivers abstract and clean criminal background check required.

This is a regular, full-time position with a salary range of $154,322 - $192,902 per annum. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate’s competencies, including but not limited to experience, education and performance related to this role.
