  • The General Manager of MedImpact Europe, based in Switzerland, will be the local executive responsible for developing and managing all business opportunities and operations for MedImpact in Europe.

    These opportunities include the provision of relevant pharmacy benefit management services in Europe to local private health insurers, employers covering drug benefits for their employees, foreign insurers and third party administrators covering foreign workers and local employees, and administrators of public health insurance programs.

    In addition to PBM services for payers, the GM will develop and manage opportunities to promote and implement MedImpact core capabilities that support safe and appropriate drug use and the cost-effective use of drugs, directly within the context of care delivery. These capabilities will be sold to local ministries of health, Regional Health Information Networks, and major hospital systems. This position reports to the [TBD] and travel up to 50% domestically and internationally. Invests time at the US headquarters to develop relationships cross-functionally to engage Information Technology, Clinical and other product/support resources to develop target markets.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Deepens MedImpact’s understanding of the complexities and diversity of the European healthcare system, its trends in both the financing and delivery of care, the direction of local public policy, the developing HIT infrastructure, and the consequent business opportunities for MedImpact.
    • Develop and respond to specific business opportunities, prepare proposals, establish pricing guidelines, and leads the sales effort to produce business; develops a comprehensive business case to be approved and funded by a Board of Directors in pursuit of new business in the target market(s).
    • Networks with decision makers of local and international HIT vendors, major public hospitals, public payers, private payers, European-based leaders of international drug companies, local ministries of health, retail pharmacy distributors, etc. to design PBM services and related solutions supporting the rational use of drugs throughout Europe.
    • Establishes business partnerships with HIT vendors and other organizations with recognized capabilities and influence to help develop and distribute MedImpact’s products and services in the European market.
    • Leverages enterprise clinical, IT and other assets as a basis for product and service offerings to be localized to the European market.
    • Develops marketing partnerships and other channels of distribution for MedImpact Europe’s products and services.
    • Develops and implements products and services sold, including the development and management of local staff to develop capabilities and customize products and services in specific environments and locations.
    • As the senior leader for the Europe market, develop and leads the team supporting that market. Coach, mentors, manages and retains local staff, and coordinates their work with local business partners with support from MedImpact U.S.
    • Ensures ongoing customer satisfaction through proper delivery of product and services, and maintaining strong relationships with local customers and business partners.
    • Ensures sound administration and conduct of MedImpact’s business and operations in Europe, including compliance with local custom and regulation; ensure organization’s conduct complies with sound corporate values and general business ethics.
    • Achieves documented targets for the growth and profitability for the group.
    • Represents MedImpact Europe, as leader and the local decision-maker for all aspects of the company’s operations.


    Supervisory Responsibilities Manages assigned staff in the segment area. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Supports and enforces all company policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner, taking corrective action whenever necessary.

    Client Responsibilities
    This is an internal and external client facing position that requires excellent customer service skills and interpersonal communication skills (listening/verbal/written). One must be able to; manage difficult or emotional client situations; Respond promptly to client needs; Solicit client feedback to improve service; Respond to requests for service and assistance from clients; Meet commitments to clients.

    Education and/or Experience

    BA/BS Degree or equivalent; plus 15 years’ related experience; 15 years of SME in respective area(s); (or equivalent combination of education and experience); and 12 years supervisory experience; Supervisory experience may be substituted with 12 years of MedImpact experience plus an appropriate external leadership training program and internal mentorship with a seasoned leader at the Vice President level or above that must be completed within 12 months in new position.

    Computer Skills
    Excellent knowledge of web-based technology platforms. Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Visio, and Outlook to create complex documents, manage schedules, create process flows, and analyze data.

    Working Hours
    This is an exempt level position requiring the incumbent to work the hours required to fully accomplish job responsibilities and reasonably meet deadlines for work deliverables. The individual must have the flexibility to work beyond traditional hours and be able to work nights, weekends or on holidays as required. Work hours may be changed from time to time to meet the needs of the business. Typical core business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.

    Travel
    This position requires both domestic and international travel of up to 50% of the time. A valid passport and ability to leave the Switzerland is required.
