Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Engineering and Asset Management leader to join Public Transport Services as Executive General Manager, Engineering & Asset Management, reporting to the Group Executive, Public Transport Services.

Brisbane City Council is by population the largest local government in Australia, with assets over $34 billion and an annual budget of over $4 billion. Brisbane Vision 2031 is Council's long-term community plan for the city, guiding everything Council does to build a vibrant, successful and liveable Brisbane for the future. This role sits at the heart of delivering on that vision, providing reliable, high-performing public transport for the people of Brisbane.

This senior role leads the engineering, maintenance and asset management function across the Council's large bus fleet, depots, workshop, and ferry network interfaces. It carries a clear mandate to accelerate the rollout of Reliability-Centred Maintenance (RCM), shift the balance from reactive to planned, proactive maintenance, and lift fleet reliability materially over the medium term, with real scope to shape the culture, systems and capability that underpin it across a large, geographically dispersed fleet.

About you:

You will bring senior leadership experience in Engineering, Maintenance and Asset Management within a large, multi-site operational environment, along with hands-on RCM implementation experience gained in a mobile asset environment, such as transport, rail, aviation, utilities or resources.

You will also bring:

  • Strong grounding in RCM principles, contemporary fleet maintenance practices, and the regulatory environment for transport operations
  • A track record leading major organisational change and business improvement in large, asset-intensive operations
  • Deep experience across the asset lifecycle such as capital renewal strategy, lifecycle planning, and maintenance optimisation
  • Skilled workplace relations, including high-level union negotiation and workforce management within industrial frameworks
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen including budgeting, investment prioritisation and commercial decision-making, paired with proven safety leadership in safety-critical environments

This is a Brisbane-based, four-year contract role reporting into the Group Executive, Public Transport Services. #LI-DNI
