General Manager - Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)
Location: Kinshasa, DRC
Lead and grow a dynamic shipping and logistics business at the heart of Central Africa.
Our client, a well‑established shipping and logistics operator with deep roots across Africa, is seeking an experienced and commercially focused General Manager to lead the business in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This is a high‑impact leadership role with full profit and loss ownership, responsible for driving strategic growth, operational excellence, and long‑term commercial success in one of the continent’s most important logistics markets.
We are looking for a hands-on leader to be responsible for performance across shipping, freight forwarding, project logistics, and supply chain services.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead all country operations, including commercial, operational, customer service, and financial functions, ensuring profitability and performance against targets.
  • Develop and implement business strategies that drive growth, expand market share, and enhance service quality across shipping and logistics segments.
  • Own P&L accountability, managing financial performance, including revenue, costs, cash flow, working capital, and financial reporting.
  • Strengthen operational excellence by aligning local practices with regional standards and global best practices.
  • Build and lead a high‑performing team, fostering a culture of accountability, development, and collaboration.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulatory, customs, tax, labour, and corporate governance requirements.
  • Build strong relationships with customers, partners, government agencies, and industry stakeholders to support sustainable growth.

What You’ll Bring to the Table

  • Proven leadership experience (8+ years) in general management, operations, or commercial roles within shipping, logistics, freight forwarding, or closely related sectors
  • Demonstrated success managing P&L and driving commercial outcomes in complex, multi‑service environments
  • Solid knowledge of the maritime and logistics value chain, including port operations, freight services, customs procedures, and inland transport
  • Strategic mindset with strong analytical ability and the capability to translate insight into action
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, fluency in English and French is essential.
  • Adaptability and resilience to lead in dynamic markets with diverse operational challenges
