The General Manager Controlled Environment Agriculture is responsible for the direction, management, and performance of a division which functions as a profit center. This position supervises both sales and marketing and operations, and will have responsibility for division accounting, purchasing, personnel, engineering, and/or financial functions. The General Manager Controlled Environment Agriculture will be the leading internal expert on growing operations and technologies for the Produce Business and will add value in customer engagements, project oversight and quality, strategy development including product/technology/service portfolio, industry thought leadership, business model development and other forms of business development to create value for customers to drive business.

Primary Responsibilities

• Reviews activity reports and financial statements to determine progress and status in attaining objectives and revises objectives and plans in accordance with current conditions
• Collaborates in the planning and formulation of organization policies and practices
• Oversees the design, operation, and improvement of the system that creates and delivers the organization’s products and services.
• Oversees and adjusts the organization’s processes and operations as necessary to ensure the efficient and effective execution of policies and procedures.
• Provides operational guidance in analyzing and appraising the effectiveness of organizational operations.
• Participates in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of strategic business and performance goals, short- and long-term objectives, plans, budgets, programs, and policies.
• Guides and leads other members of management
• Other duties as assigned, including work in other functional areas to cover absences or relief, to equalize peak work periods or otherwise to balance the workload
• Actively participate in the sales and customer engagement process to add further credibility and confidence to our turnkey solution offering and consult with customers on key growing technology and operational decisions in the pre-contract phase.
• Provide oversight during USA project construction and customer project reviews, with the operations team, to provide guidance on project quality, system integration, and overall project results.
• Consult with customers post project handover to guide on operational startup and ongoing operational efficiency with the potential to be a revenue stream and/or another aspect of the business model.
• Participate as a key member of the strategy development team to build a roadmap for future portfolio expansion through acquisition, internal development (examples would be controls, data analytics, growing systems/automation, energy efficiency …), and new business models.
• Serve as a spokesperson for the business and contribute to content to expand footprint of industry thought leadership (marketing).
• Engage with the team to identify design improvements to the product offering to improve cost and/or customer experience.
