of the Role

Reporting to the Head of Retail Automotive, the Automotive Dealership General Manager (Dealer Principal) is responsible for leading and managing the Omoda & Jaecoo (O&J) dealership operations in Laos. The role has full accountability for both vehicle sales and after-sales operations, ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction, operational excellence, and achievement of business objectives. The successful candidate will drive profitability through the strategic promotion, sales, service, and distribution of vehicles, parts, and related services while developing a high-performing team and maintaining strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and the manufacturer.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Marketing

  • Lead and motivate the dealership team to achieve sales targets and business objectives.
  • Ensure customers receive exceptional service and maintain high standards of staff presentation and professionalism.
  • Conduct regular management meetings to review operational performance and implement improvement plans.
  • Set performance objectives for team members and identify training and development needs.
  • Support sales teams in closing deals and appraise trade-in vehicles when required.
  • Develop and coordinate training programs to enhance product knowledge and sales effectiveness.
  • Manage vehicle display, merchandising, and showroom presentation to maximize sales opportunities.
  • Oversee advertising campaigns, promotions, and marketing initiatives.
  • Build market intelligence on competitors, industry developments, and emerging opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers, suppliers, and the O&J brand.

After-Sales Operations

  • Ensure after-sales departments achieve performance and profitability targets.
  • Monitor financial and operational performance through KPI reviews, P&L analysis, and operational controls.
  • Implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives where required.
  • Drive service excellence and ensure industry-leading customer satisfaction standards.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of after-sales KPIs and their impact on overall business performance.

Customer & Dealer Management

  • Build and maintain a dealership image that reflects brand standards and customer expectations.
  • Maintain regular contact with key customers and proactively address customer concerns and complaints.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction and communicate feedback to relevant teams.
  • Ensure compliance with all O&J dealership standards and requirements.
  • Provide regular market and customer feedback to senior management.

Financial Management

  • Develop and manage annual budgets and forecasts aligned with company objectives.
  • Review monthly financial performance with department managers and drive accountability.
  • Manage vehicle inventory, parts, and accessories to optimize stock levels and profitability.
  • Ensure effective debtor management and compliance with company credit policies.
  • Take full responsibility for achieving dealership financial targets and profitability objectives.

People Leadership

  • Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing dealership team.
  • Ensure effective workforce planning, recruitment, training, and performance management.
  • Address employee performance, conduct, and development matters in a timely manner.
  • Promote a positive workplace culture that encourages growth, accountability, and excellence.
  • Support succession planning and local talent development, including mentoring future leadership where applicable.

Background and Experience

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.

Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience in senior automotive dealership management with responsibility for both sales and after-sales operations.
  • Strong understanding of modern automotive retail practices, dealership operations, and customer service excellence.
  • Experience building and growing dealership operations in challenging or developing markets.
  • Demonstrated P&L management experience with strong commercial and financial acumen.
  • Ability to create and maintain a high-performance workplace culture.
  • Excellent customer relationship, negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership, strategic thinking, analytical, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Fluent English language skills are essential.
  • Experience working in Asia or international environments is highly desirable.

The role is based in Vientiane, Laos, and involves leadership of a well-established automotive dealership business representing Omoda & Jaecoo vehicles. Travel is required for approximately 10% of the time, including occasional regional and international travel. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to the continued growth of the automotive market in Laos while developing strong partnerships with customers, suppliers, and manufacturer stakeholders.
