Job Description

This position serves as the General Manager for Asia, accountable for regional business performance, including revenue growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction. The role leads the regional organization to achieve sales and service goals; develops and executes short- and long-term strategies aligned to global priorities; and owns regional operating plans, forecasts, and resource/budget management. This leader strengthens relationships with current accounts, develops new customers and distribution channels, and ensures the Asia business operates in full compliance with all applicable local laws and regulations.

Essential Job Functions – Responsibilities

  • Lead regional sales team to achieve revenue, margin, and customer satisfaction targets
  • Provide accurate and timely regional sales forecasts of expected business results and manage the operating cadence (pipeline reviews, quarterly outlooks, annual operating plan)
  • Prepare and deliver sales presentations to prospective and existing customers; represent the company at key industry events
  • Identify and recommend product or service enhancements and regional growth initiatives to increase competitiveness and customer value
  • Support regional collections activities and actively manage working-capital health in partnership with Finance
  • Analyze competitive market data to identify trends, risks and opportunities; coordinate with global sales/marketing organization to shape Asia appropriate strategies
  • Maintain deep product and application knowledge to influence customer decisions and provide market input to global stakeholders and maintain robust pipeline of business using CRM system to support growth objectives
  • Recruit, develop, and lead a high performing cross-functional regional organization (sales, marketing, and service); provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback and career development
  • Develop and execute local marketing and prospecting plans to drive sales pipeline growth
  • Partner with HR and leadership to establish succession plans and sustain organizational capability
  • Measure report, and improve direct sales and sales channel productivity through disciplines utilization of the CRM tool and KPI management
  • Evaluate agent/distributor performance, recommend commission structures and optimize channel coverage
  • Ensure full compliance with all local laws/regulations and company standards; proactively manage regional risk
  • Monitor and address field service and support KPI gaps to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction in collaboration with the global field service team

Education – Experience – Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; technical degree preferred
  • MBA preferred
  • 7+ years sales and account management experience required
  • Prior managerial experience required
  • Capital equipment sales experience highly preferred
  • International sales experience preferred
  • Fluent business level English is required; fluent in other Asian languages is preferred
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills required
  • Must be results oriented and have a bias towards action
  • Must be willing to travel up to 40%
  • Ability to coach and develop team members
  • Strategic vision, critical thinking, and analytical skills required
