The General Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all operational activities of the facility to ensure sustained performance, profitability, compliance, and organizational effectiveness. This role provides overall leadership for operations, financial performance, people management, and customer service while maintaining strict adherence to environmental, safety, DOT, and EPA regulatory requirements. The General Manager is expected to serve as the site’s primary authority on EPA compliance, ensuring all environmental programs are executed, audited, and continuously improved. This position is accountable for driving operational excellence while protecting the company’s regulatory standing and reputation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, and oversee all daily operations of the facility to ensure performance, productivity, efficiency, and profitability.
  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable EPA regulations, environmental permits, reporting requirements, and inspections, serving as the primary site leader for environmental compliance.
  • Maintain expert-level working knowledge of EPA rules and regulations applicable to transformer processing, waste handling, chemical management, and environmental protection.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce environmental policies, procedures, and controls to meet or exceed EPA, DOT, and company standards.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with EPA regulators, inspectors, and auditors, including preparation for inspections, response to findings, and management of corrective actions.
  • Oversee environmental documentation, recordkeeping, reporting, and audit readiness to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate, manage, and monitor the overall workings of the organization, ensuring alignment with company objectives and regulatory obligations.
  • Improve processes and policies in support of organizational goals, including development and implementation of operational and environmental procedures.
  • Maintain financial responsibility for the facility, including Profit & Loss statements, budgeting, and month-end financials.
  • Provide leadership for human resources activities, including staffing, scheduling, delegation, performance management, and employee development.
  • Monitor and manage production, warehousing, pricing, distribution, and maintenance of equipment and machinery to ensure safe and compliant operations.
  • Ensure adherence to safety programs and environmental best practices across all departments.
  • Manage and improve the efficiency of support services such as IT, HR, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable.
  • Oversee customer support activities and support sales and marketing efforts to retain and grow the business.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership and assist in the development and execution of strategic and operational plans.

Minimum Requirements

Education/Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • EPA-related training or certifications strongly preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of 4 years of high-level managerial experience overseeing operations and personnel.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience working directly with EPA regulations, compliance programs, inspections, and reporting in an industrial or environmental services environment.
  • Proven experience leading environmental compliance initiatives and managing regulatory audits and corrective actions.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Expert knowledge of EPA regulations, environmental compliance requirements, and regulatory reporting standards.
  • Strong understanding of DOT, safety, and environmental compliance in an industrial operations setting.
  • Ability to interpret, implement, and enforce regulatory requirements across all operational functions.
  • Demonstrated independent decision-making and problem-solving ability in complex regulatory and operational environments.
  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, P&L management, and operational cost control.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with regulators, executives, employees, and customers.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and continuously improve operational and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and operational reporting tools.

Oil Processing

Our oil recycling facilities process millions of gallons of oil annually. Our industry-leading, environmentally sensitive methods remove PCBs and unwanted water and particulates, returning the clean oil to new life as lubricants and base oils, as well as regenerated transformer oil for the utility industry.
