Bethune Co-op invites applications for the position of General Manager (GM) to lead their team located in Bethune, SK

Bethune Co-op is Saskatchewan’s longest community-owned Co-op, opened in April 1914. Bethune Co-op proudly serves members with 2 locations; a store with a range of offerings including Food, Liquor, Hardware, and Farm Supply, and a Cardlock facility. With revenues of 6.2M, we are excited to drive our Co-op into strategic growth and continue to serve our community with high quality products and top-tier customer service.

What you’ll do:

The General Manager will be responsible for the performance and oversight of the organization. The primary responsibilities of this role are, but not limited to, the following:

  • Work closely with the Board to interpret our vision and manage the Co-operative’s strategy by directing operations of the business.
  • Provide leadership in the development of detailed department operating budgets in alignment with organizational goals and initiatives.
  • Provide leadership and maintain a positive work environment that promotes the engagement and development of team members to support the achievement of desired results.
  • Use excellent communication skills to build and enhance relationships with stakeholders, members, customers, and other parties.
  • Drive the development of products, services, and programs to improve profit, membership growth, and increase customer experience.

The Team:

You will report to the Board of Directors and as the General Manager, you will lead a team of 4 direct reports. This team strives to cultivate a culture of community, inclusion, and prosperity.

Who you are:

You are looking for a career in Retail Operations and:

  • Have 4-6 years of experience leading people within the retail industry. Previous Co-op experience is considered an asset (A combination of education and experience may be considered).
  • Possess strong skills in overseeing operating budgets, timelines, people, and processes.
  • Have a reputation for being honest and trustworthy, results-oriented, and striving to be the best in what you do.
  • Are committed to building relationships, delivering solutions that matter most, and recognize the value in differing perspectives.
