General Manager
Location: Africa

Lead the growth and performance of a well-established shipping and logistics business operating across Africa. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for a commercially driven General Manager to oversee one of the organisation's country operations, driving profitability, operational excellence, and long-term market growth.

Representing a leading international logistics and freight forwarding group, this role offers the opportunity to take full ownership of a country business unit, leading both commercial and operational functions in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

What You'll Be Doing

• Overseeing all operational, commercial, and administrative activities across the country business
• Leading freight forwarding operations across land, air, and sea logistics
• Managing complex industrial, mining, oil and gas, and project logistics activities
• Driving business development initiatives, winning new business, and strengthening key customer relationships
• Taking full ownership of the country P&L, ensuring profitability and sustainable growth
• Leading, developing, and mentoring local operational and commercial teams
• Working closely with regional leadership and international stakeholders to support wider business objectives
• Identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency, customer service, and market positioning

What You'll Bring to the Table

• Proven leadership experience within the shipping, logistics, or freight forwarding industry
• Strong commercial background with a track record of growing revenue and market share
• Experience managing both operational delivery and customer relationships
• Previous exposure to project logistics, industrial freight, or complex supply chain operations
• Experience working within Africa, particularly West or Central Africa, is highly advantageous
• Fluency in English and French is essential
• Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills
• Hands-on, commercially focused approach with the ability to operate effectively in dynamic markets
