General Manager
Location: Papua New Guinea

Our client, a globally respected player in container shipping, is seeking a commercially focused and operationally hands-on General Manager to oversee their agency operations in Papua New Guinea. This is a high-impact leadership role with full P&L responsibility and the mandate to drive growth, modernisation, and operational excellence in a strategically significant location.

What You'll Be Doing

• Leading all commercial, customer service, and operational functions to ensure agency performance and profitability

• Developing and delivering business strategies to drive growth, improve efficiency, and achieve key performance indicators

• Managing financial outcomes, including P&L, cash flow, debtors, and working capital

• Championing operational improvements, aligning the agency with regional best practices and global standards

• Building and leading a high-performing team through clear direction, development, and coaching

• Ensuring compliance with local regulatory, tax, and labour requirements in accordance with corporate governance policies

What You'll Bring to the Table

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with at least 10 years of leadership experience in container or liner shipping

• Proven success in managing P&L and delivering commercial results in complex environments

• Strong end-to-end understanding of the liner shipping value chain, including port, terminal, and equipment operations

• Demonstrated ability to lead transformation and implement modernisation initiatives

• Fluency in English is essential; excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills are critical

• Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and the ability to manage diverse teams and partners
