
TITLE OF VACANCY: General Maintenance/HVAC Technician – 260 days
POSITION TYPE: Service
ADMINISTRATIVE UNIT: TheWest Virginia Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (WVSDB)
LOCATION: Romney, West Virginia
Under immediate supervision - performs tasks, including but not limited to installing, maintaining, repairing, or upgrading heating and air conditioning systems in the schools and various buildings on WVSDB campus; procuring parts and materials needed to complete assigned jobs; and maintaining records of time and materials to complete job orders.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Will adhere to WVDE Policy 5902 – "Employee Code of Conduct" and the applicable WVSDB personnel policies for employee performance.
WV Code 18A-4-8:
"General maintenance" means a person employed as a helper to skilled maintenance employees, and to perform minor repairs to equipment and buildings.
WV Code 21-16-2:
"HVAC Technician" means a person with at least 2,000 hours of HVAC-related work, training, and experience and is licensed to install, test, maintain, and repair both residential and nonresidential heating, ventilating, and cooling systems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• PossessesHigh School diploma or equivalent, pursuant to WV Code §18A-2-5.
Possession of a current license for a certified HVAC Technician in the State of West Virginia.
Possession of a certificate of training related to the use of air conditioning refrigerants - Clean Air Act of 1990, Section 608.
Meets the definition of "Qualifications" in WV Code §18A-4-8b; demonstrated competency, pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-8e (state-approved competency test), as required.
Successful completion of a criminal background check pursuant to WV Code §18-5-15c and/or §18A-3-10.

Based on WVSDB Service Personnel Pay Schedule , H Scale, commensurate with year of experience. 260-day annual contact.
