Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in commercial or industrial establishments by performing the following duties.

DIRECTLY SUPERVISES: None

HOW YOU WILL CREATE THE EXTRAORDINARY

  • Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.
  • Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problems or repair machines.
  • Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Builds and completes repairs using basic carpentry principles.
  • Installs and repairs pipes, valves and other plumbing fixtures using basic plumbing principles.
  • Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.
  • Using basic electrical principles completes electrical work on equipment, structures, etc.
  • Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
  • Fabricates and repairs counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures.
  • Will abide by all safety requirements as outlined in the Safety Manual or as required by individual departments and/or job functions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Proficient in English verbal and written.
  • High school diploma or GED. One to three months related experience and/ or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have an outgoing, energetic, and enthusiastic attitude. Must be comfortable initiating conversations and a fun environment for guests.
  • Flexible to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays if applicable.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to frequently lift and/ or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/ or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required with this job include close vision, distance vision, Peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to respond calmly and make rational decisions when handling guest and employee conflicts.
  • Ascend and descend stairs and maintain equilibrium for an extended period.
  • Must be able to work from a standing position and/or walking motion for extended period.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Able to compute rate, ratio, and percent to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situation.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Able to write simple correspondence. Effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to clients, customers and other employees of the organization.
  • Responsible for fostering a fun environment.
  • Promote a positive influence in the company and company sponsored events. Maintain a professional work environment with management and staff.

  • The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and high, precarious places. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.

  • Must keep and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a license from the Indiana Horse Racing Commission.
