SUMMARY
The General Maintenance Engineer II ("Ingeniero/a de Mantenimiento I") assists to ensure equipment, physical plant, and property are maintained properly so that equipment operates at optimum levels.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Perform general maintenance and repairs in guest rooms and public areas, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and hardware repairs (e.g., unclogging drains, repairing fixtures, servicing AC units and lighting).
- Monitor, test, and maintain fire alarm, life safety, sprinkler, and emergency power systems; respond appropriately to related emergencies.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency situations to ensure guest and associate safety and minimize operational disruption.
- Conduct routine inspections, read meters and gauges, and maintain accurate daily logs of work performed and system readings.
- Identify and report opportunities for energy conservation and efficient utility usage.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and engineering work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
- Follow all safety procedures and proactively correct hazardous conditions.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding work orders, materials, and project updates; assist with training team members as needed.
- Performs additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the leadership team.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED plus 2 years technical training or 2 -4 years of college.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience and/or training.
- Advanced plumbing experience a plus.
- Previous similar position in a hotel, or similar business entity preferred.
- Must have an unexpired and valid driver's license with no recent violations.
- Availability to work on weekends and holidays is required.
- Ability to always maintain a friendly, professional, team-oriented, positive demeanor and diplomatic attitude, especially under stress or challenges.
- Ability to stand, kneel, squat for prolonged periods of time, up to and including, the entire shift and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Experience in dealing with the public is preferred, such as retail cashier, food industry service, guest service with public contacts, etc.
- The following position will be filled in accordance with the process set forth in California Labor Code Section 2810.8 and San Diego Municipal Code 311.0101 et. seq.
