Job Description

The Finance team at Milliman, Global Corporate Services (GCS) is looking to hire a General Ledger (GL) Manager. The GL Manager manages the GL team, which is part of the Corporate Finance department. The GL team is responsible for maintenance of Oracle GL and other Accounting Systems, reviewing Journal Entries for multiple ledgers and currencies, timely and accurate creation of financial statements, and assisting Practices and other teams within Finance with General Ledger related questions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage GL team (US and India).
  • Manage GL processes.
  • Prepare Journal Entries in multiple ledgers and review Journal Entries prepared by the GL team.
  • Prepare consolidation and balance sheet reports.
  • Reconcile various Balance Sheet accounts.
  • Update accounting codes in Oracle GL and online Accounting Manual.
  • Answer questions about the General Ledger and Journal Entries.
  • Assist in various ad-hoc processes (e.g. Audits).

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • The ideal candidate must have 2-3 years of team management experience.
  • The ideal candidate must have advanced level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including strong Excel skills, with the ability to leverage Microsoft Copilot to enhance efficiency, analysis, and reporting.
  • The ideal candidate must have strong problem-solving skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • The ideal candidate must have strong communication skills, with the ability to interact and collaborate effectively with employees at all levels.
  • The ideal candidate must have strong client service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must have demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement, with a proactive and constructive approach to enhancing processes and performance.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Experience with artificial intelligence (AI) tools or applications in finance

COMPENSATION:

The overall salary range for this role is $78,800 - $145,130. For candidates residing in:

  • Alaska, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York City, Newark, San Jose, San Francisco, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, or the District of Columbia the salary range is $90,620 - $145,130.
  • All other locations the salary range is $78,800 - $126,200.

A combination of factors will be considered, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, etc.
