We’re looking for a Senior GL Accountant to join our team in Poeldijk.

The Senior GL Accountant is responsible for overseeing the general ledger activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with accounting standards, and supporting month-end and year-end closing processes. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to improve financial processes and controls.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage general ledger activities, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records across the business
  • Prepare and post journals, accruals, provisions and other accounting adjustments in a timely manner
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate any discrepancies identified
  • Support month end, quarter end and year end close activities, ensuring reporting deadlines are achieved
  • Oversee accounts receivable activities, including invoicing, cash allocation, account reconciliations and collections support
  • Support accounts payable processes, including invoice processing, supplier reconciliations and payment administration
  • Analyse financial data and variances, providing meaningful insights and explanations to management
  • Support internal and external audit requirements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies
  • Assist with statutory reporting, tax related activities and the maintenance of robust financial controls
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, controls and reporting efficiency

Requirements

Essential

  • Experience working within a finance or accounting role with exposure to general ledger activities
  • Good understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting processes
  • Experience supporting month end and year end close activities
  • Experience preparing journals, reconciliations and accounting adjustments
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Experience using finance systems and Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships across the business
  • Proactive and organised approach with a willingness to improve processes and ways of working

Desirable

  • Experience supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable activities
  • Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Dynamics or similar
  • Exposure to audit, statutory reporting or tax compliance activities
  • Experience working within an international organisation
  • Professional accounting qualification or studying towards one
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
  • Experience identifying and implementing process improvements
  • Experience working with financial reporting and analysis tools

Benefits

  • Salary starting from €4,000 per month, depending on skills and experience
