WHAT WILL YOU DO.
This individual is responsible for front line operations of testing in the laboratory. Advanced technical knowledge in the field supervised is required. Ability to work with front line staff in troubleshooting instrument problems as they occur. Technically competent in the quality control program, proficiency testing and process improvement program of the areas of testing. Responsible for regulatory compliance of the testing overseen. Competency of staff supervised for testing is part of the responsibility for this position, which may include corrective action if necessary. At least two technical areas will be included, e.g., Chemistry/Hematology or Blood Bank/Microbiology. Also, this individual is responsible for the technical and scientific oversight of the specialty technical areas assigned. This individual shall maintain a healing environment for employees and patients with a spirit of caring and concern as incorporated in the philosophy of our Catholic healthcare systems while performing all job functions.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Associate or bachelor's degree in a lab science and graduate of an accredited medical lab technician or medical technologist program required. ¥Meets the alternative education and experience

Training and relevant experience in high complexity testing of Immunology, Chemistry, Hematology and Microbiology.
At least four (4) years of relevant experience in a high complexity laboratory setting is also required.

Alverno Laboratories manages 32 hospital laboratories and provides laboratory services to two free standing emergency departments and thousands of physician offices and other clients in the Midwest. Alverno has been providing outreach laboratory services in the northern Indiana communities since the laboratory was originally built in 1999.
Alverno has more than twenty-five patient service centers, with the number expected to grow.
Alverno has a state-of-the-art central laboratory and is one of the largest regional laboratories in the Midwest. Alverno exhibits a culture of customer service, highly reliable clinical and anatomic pathology testing with a focus on providing excellent laboratory service for the communities we serve.
In addition to the more than 350 laboratory professionals at the Hammond facility and over 2,100 laboratory professionals system wide, Pathology Consultants, Inc. has five full time M.D. Pathologists providing anatomic pathology service and medical directorship at the central laboratory and about twenty pathologists throughout the Alverno system.
The Alverno central laboratory became ISO 15189:2012 certified in 2015. We are proud of this accomplishment and credit our exceptional employees for achieving this certification.
