Job Description

Position Summary

The Starbucks Lead Hand supports daily operations and provides guidance to team members to ensure excellent customer service, product quality, food safety, cleanliness, and compliance with Starbucks and Sodexo standards.

The Lead Hand is expected to demonstrate leadership, teamwork, integrity, and effective communication while meeting the needs of those we serve.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

Leadership & Customer Service

  • Provide direction and support to team members during assigned shifts.
  • Deliver friendly, efficient, and professional customer service.
  • Respond to customer requests and resolve concerns appropriately.
  • Promote teamwork and maintain a positive and respectful workplace.

Starbucks Operations

  • Prepare coffee, beverages, food, and other products according to Starbucks and Sodexo standards.
  • Suggest products, combos, and sizes appropriately.
  • Communicate pull counts and assist with product merchandising.
  • Keep counters and work areas clean, organized, and properly stocked.
  • Monitor product quality, freshness, availability, and proper rotation.

Ordering & Inventory

  • Support product ordering and maintain appropriate stock levels based on operational needs.
  • Receive, organize, and verify deliveries and ensure products are stored appropriately.
  • Assist with inventory counts and maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Monitor inventory levels and identify shortages, overstock, and inventory variances.
  • Ensure proper FIFO/product rotation practices are followed.

Shrinkage & Waste Control

  • Monitor product shrinkage, waste, and spoilage.
  • Identify opportunities to minimize waste while maintaining product availability and quality.
  • Communicate significant inventory variances, shrinkage, waste, or product concerns to Management.

Food Safety, Compliance & Internal Inspections

  • Record food and equipment temperatures as required.
  • Complete required audits, checklists, and food safety documentation.
  • Ensure food handling, sanitation, hygiene, and safety procedures are followed.
  • Follow all HACCP policies and procedures.
  • Participate in safety training, meetings, and hazard assessments.
  • Complete required online training modules.
  • Conduct routine internal inspections of the Starbucks operation, including food safety, cleanliness, product quality, equipment, and operational standards.
  • Identify deficiencies during internal inspections and communicate required corrective actions to Management.
  • Communicate operational, equipment, product, inventory, or food safety concerns to Management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of Starbucks Supervisor/Team Lead experience is mandatory.
  • Previous Lead Hand, supervisory, or food service experience is an asset.
  • Strong customer service, communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to provide direction and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal instructions in English for safe and efficient job performance.
  • Physically fit to perform all aspects of the position, including occasionally lifting up to 30 lbs.
  • Valid Food Handler Certification.
  • Must meet hospital vaccination requirements.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal reference check.
  • Knowledge or experience in ordering, inventory control, shrinkage/waste management, stock rotation, and operational inspections is an asset.
