Job Description

We are hiring in Valhalla NY! Join us at Easterseals Valhalla for an exciting career as a temporary General Education Teacher for our Summer program.

Summer Session runs 7/6-8/14

What You'll Do

As a General Education Teacher you will implement The Creative Curriculum for Preschool alongside the Special Education Teacher, collect data in line with quarterly Teaching Strategies GOLD reports, follow all OCFS regulations, follow schoolwide PBIS initiative, and collaborate with classroom staff, parents, education consultant, and administration. You will co-teach with the Special Education Teacher to create a safe, warm and caring educational environment for our students in the integrated NYSED preschool setting.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Work cooperatively with the special education teacher to design a classroom environment that is both motivating and stimulating for students.
  • Help develop daily, written lesson plan aligned with The Creative Curriculum for Preschool.
  • Maintain periodic progress scales for each pupil and attend case conferences on each student at appropriate intervals during the school year.
  • Implement PBIS behavioral system, as approved by treatment team.
  • Assure that accurate attendance records are maintained and are to be submitted appropriately prior to the completion of the school year.
  • Assist in the creation of quarterly reports and submission to appropriate parties on Teaching Strategies GOLD.
  • Attend school-specific and Agency-related staff and/or parent meetings as required.
  • Assure that all students are supervised at all times by a responsible Agency-paid employee.
  • Attend annual orientation for staff, prior to school opening. Maintain OCFS approved training hours.
  • Develop a working relationship with assigned professionals and individual responsible for therapeutic classroom activities.
  • Collaborate with the treatment team regarding treatment of the children and diagnostic information.
  • Participate in meetings and workshops that would serve as community orientation regarding the Agency.
  • Help organize and supervise extra-curricular activities.
  • Supervise aides assigned to classroom.

Your a Great Fit if You Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree from accredited college or university
  • Meet minimum requirements of the appropriate State Board of Education
  • Eligible for teacher certification or enrolled in Master's degree program leading to certification

Compensation

  • $27.21-30.61/hr.
