POSITION TITLE: Paraprofessional, General Education

SUPERVISOR: Principal and Assistant Principal

REPORTS TO: Grade 6 Classroom Teachers / Core Instruction Teachers

PAY RANGE: $18.25 - $26.25 per hour depending on type of certification (Paraeducator I, Paraeducator II) and relevant experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Paraeducator I or Paraeducator II - Certification is required
  • Experience working with Grade 6 or middle-school age students with varied strengths, abilities, and learning styles
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Positive, cooperative approach to problem solving
  • Motivated to work collaboratively with team members in a flexible push-in and pull-out instructional model
  • Knowledge of basic skills in operating systems of computers and educational technology
  • Demonstrates organizational skills

SUMMARY: The 1.0 FTE General Education Paraprofessional will assist, support, and work under the direction and close supervision of teachers, administrators, and team members to provide additional guided practice opportunities for priority content and skills. Operating under a flexible push-in and pull-out model, this position will co-supervise core instruction, co-manage science lab blocks, and pull targeted small groups into secondary spaces during core blocks. The Paraprofessional will implement instructional strategies and lesson plans provided by Classroom Teachers and Administration.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides targeted small group instruction and guided practice opportunities in secondary spaces during core blocks as directed by Classroom Teachers.
  • Co-supervises core instruction alongside Grade 6 classroom teachers to support active learning and student engagement.
  • Co-manages science lab blocks, assisting with lab setup, student safety, material distribution, and hands-on group supervision.
  • Facilitates participation of all students in accessing the general curriculum using flexible push-in and pull-out models.
  • Gathers, collects, and records observational data and academic progress related to priority content and skills; shares insights with classroom teachers.
  • Supports and implements the school's values and practices regarding instructional strategies, expectations for peer behavior, peer interaction, and inclusion.
  • Informs Classroom Teachers and district staff of student progress and skill development.
  • Attends, participates, and integrates information learned in weekly grade-level team meetings into the classroom.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality regarding all student information.
  • Prepares educational and lab materials as directed by Grade 6 Classroom Teachers and Administration.
  • Creates substitute paraprofessional plans.
  • Attends workshops and trainings as needed (7.25 hours of work per day).
  • Carries over learned instructional strategies and academic support techniques, including the use of educational technology, throughout the daily schedule.
  • Works with students as assigned by administration; solves practical classroom problems using learned techniques within the scope of school district policies.
  • Makes independent judgments within the scope of respective job duties.
  • Has knowledge of punctuation, formatting, spelling, and grammatical skills, and be able to apply these skills to reporting functions if needed.
  • Adaptable to performing under minimal stress in the event of an emergency or crisis.
  • Performs school responsibilities as appropriate and/or assigned. Provides any other assistance to students, directly related to the position as assigned by Classroom Teachers and Administration.
