Job Description

This major Insurer is looking for a General Counsel to manage all legal, regulatory and corporate governance matters. Reporting to the Regional General Counsel, this post will:

• Be a sole contributor and a key member of the executive leadership for the operation in Hong Kong
• Draft and structure insurance product marketing materials involving commercial and consumer lines of insurance business
• Reviewing and drafting broker distribution and agency related agreements
• Being the point of contact with regulators in Hong Kong and handling enquiries, investigations and consultations
• Handling employment, corporate governance and company secretarial matters and be the named company secretary

Requirements

• Admitted to practice law in Hong Kong or common law country as a solicitor or counsel
• Minimum 13 years post-qualification experience (PQE) as a solicitor or counsel
• Preferable to have someone who has worked in the insurance sector and/or leading insurance practice
• Excellent command of written and spoken English. Candidates who also have fluent Chinese skills (speaking and written) will have a good advantage
• Leadership qualifies are key as well as a can do and flexible personality
