The Opportunity

The firm is seeking a General Counsel to lead its In-House Legal Department and serve as a senior legal advisor to the Executive Team.

This is an opportunity for an experienced legal executive to help strengthen the firm's legal infrastructure, governance, compliance, and risk-management functions while supporting continued growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a senior legal advisor to executive leadership on legal, regulatory, compliance, and risk matters.
• Oversee the firm's internal legal function, including complaints, disputes, regulatory matters, and related legal issues.
• Evaluate and strengthen the structure, processes, and talent within the legal department.
• Manage relationships with outside counsel and other legal resources.
• Develop and improve governance, compliance, and decision-making processes.
• Identify legal and operational risks and develop strategies to mitigate those risks.
• Partner with executive leadership on complex and sensitive legal matters.
• Help build scalable legal processes and infrastructure to support the firm's continued growth.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a senior legal executive with significant experience in consumer finance, financial services, credit-related matters, regulatory compliance, or a high-volume litigation environment.

The successful candidate will have experience leading legal teams, working directly with regulators, managing complex legal and compliance issues, and building systems and processes within a growing organization.

Strong judgment, executive presence, leadership ability, and the willingness to make difficult personnel and structural decisions will be important in this role.

Required Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• 10+ years of legal experience.
• Experience in consumer finance, financial services, credit-related matters, regulatory compliance, or high-volume litigation.
• Direct experience working with regulators and overseeing compliance-related matters.
• Experience leading legal teams in complex and/or multi-jurisdictional environments.
• Strong legal judgment and executive-level communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to develop processes, systems, and legal infrastructure within a growing organization.

Compensation & Benefits

This position offers a highly competitive base salary along with eligibility for performance-based bonuses. The role also includes a comprehensive benefits package and a hybrid work schedule.
