Job Description

About Gallery Group

Gallery Group is a diversified property and construction business delivering high-quality residential communities across Queensland. With an integrated model spanning development, construction, sales and property management, we manage projects end-to-end to ensure strong commercial outcomes and exceptional customer experiences.

Our team is driven by a commitment to innovation, quality and delivering projects that positively contribute to the communities in which we operate.

About the Role

Gallery Group is seeking an experienced General Counsel to lead the legal function and provide commercially focused advice across our property development, construction and real estate operations.

As a standalone role, you will have full ownership of legal strategy, risk and governance frameworks, and will act as a key advisor to the CFO and CEO on critical commercial and strategic decisions.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will provide clear, commercially grounded legal guidance across:

  • Structuring, drafting and negotiating complex development, construction and commercial agreements, including put and call option arrangements
  • Advising on acquisitions, project delivery and risk allocation strategies
  • Navigating regulatory frameworks, including QBCC and SDA requirements
  • Managing disputes strategically, including engagement with external counsel where required
  • Supporting broader corporate matters, employment, IP, governance and internal frameworks
  • Collaborating closely with Development, Construction, Sales and Real Estate leaders to drive outcomes, not just mitigate risk
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the CFO and CEO on legal, commercial and risk matters.

About You
You are an experienced legal professional who enjoys being close to the action and influencing outcomes, not sitting on the sidelines.

  • 10+ years’ PAE in commercial, property or construction law
  • Admitted to practice in Australia with a current practicing certificate
  • Highly capable in contract negotiation, with a pragmatic and solutions-focused approach
  • Strong commercial acumen with the confidence to advise senior stakeholders
  • Experience in property development or construction environments is highly regarded
  • Clear communicator who can distil complexity into actionable advice

Why This Role

This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior, high-impact legal role within a business that values legal as a strategic function, not a support service.

  • Direct influence on significant, multi-stage development projects
  • Broad scope across legal, commercial and operational matters
  • Close access to decision-makers and leadership
  • A fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment where your input shapes outcomes
