Join our team this summer! We’re looking for enthusiastic team members to work with us from May to September, with the exciting opportunity to grow into a permanent part-time or full-time role based on your performance and our operational needs.

As a General Clerk at Ucluelet Co-op, you will play a vital role in delivering personalized service to our valued members. We prioritize establishing strong relationships with our members and fostering an environment that encourages their continued patronage. We are seeking a positive, dependable individual with a professional approach and a commitment to exceptional customer service.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, assisting with product inquiries, and ensuring a positive shopping experience.
• Operate the cash register/POS system, process payments, handle returns, and balance cash at the end of shifts.
• Ensure the store and warehouse are neat, clean, and well-merchandised at all times
• Assist in general stock duties, including filling shelves, facing merchandise, and putting away items when not cashing
• Perform receiving duties when required
• Have a good working understanding of the till operation
• Come to work with a positive, professional approach and attitude
• Be dependable on all scheduled shifts
• Provide outstanding courteous customer service
• Be familiar with and adhere to all Ucluelet Co-op policies and procedures
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a customer service role preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends

Working Conditions:

• Flexibility in scheduling, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours)

• Physically demanding tasks including lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs., kneeling, pushing, pulling, and occasional stair climbing
