Zerella Fresh is one of Australia’s largest growers and packers of carrots, onions and potatoes, supplying major supermarket chains, independent retailers, and export markets nationwide.

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated General Accountant to join our team at our Parilla office in South Australia.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within a dynamic agribusiness environment, supporting the financial operations of our potato, carrot and onion divisions. Reporting directly to the Financial Accountant and working closely with the CFO, you will play a key role in delivering accurate, timely and insightful financial information to support business performance and compliance.

As General Accountant, you will contribute to operational finance activities, ensuring strong financial controls and supporting informed decision-making across the business.

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Supporting the Financial Accountant and CFO to optimise financial and operational
  performance across the Pye Group.
• Preparing, reviewing and maintaining financial statements and management reports
• Managing accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger entries
• Completing month-end and year-end close processes
• Preparing
  business activity statements (BAS) and other regulatory reports
• Investigating variances, discrepancies and irregularities in financial data
• Supporting the development of budgets and financial forecasts
• Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and requirements
• Coordinating audit documentation and liaising with external auditors
• Providing financial insights that support business planning
• Maintaining organised financial documentation and record-keeping systems.
• Examining operating costs and organisations' income and expenditure
• Reviewing and accurately processing supplier invoices.
• Preparing and processing weekly payment runs and ad hoc payments.
• Managing project-related payments and maintaining supporting documentation.
• Responsible for maintaining and reconciling potato seed account
• Performing daily bank reconciliations and monitoring cash flow.
• Assisting with financial reporting, analysis and ad hoc projects as required.
• All other directions of management to achieve the company’s objectives.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

• Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (or equivalent relevant experience)
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar finance/accounting role
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly advanced Excel capability
• High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach
• Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
• Full and unrestricted driver’s licence (essential)
