Join us as a GenAI Lead Engineer where you will be responsible for designing and leading the development of GenAI solutions within the Data‑as‑a‑Service ecosystem. This role will drive LLM architecture, advanced RAG implementations, and AI‑powered data services, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with Barclays’ governance standards. The engineer will oversee end‑to‑end technical delivery, guide engineering teams, establish reusable frameworks, and partner with data, security, and platform teams to integrate GenAI capabilities across core DaaS platforms.
To be successful as a GenAI Lead Engineer , you should have experience with:
Hands-on working experience in Large Language Models (LLMs).
Designing GenAI architectures for enterprise use cases.
Building secure GenAI pipelines (retrieval, orchestration, safety layers).
Prompt engineering & advanced Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) techniques.
Data engineering fundamentals: data ingestion, feature stores, metadata mgmt.
Model evaluation frameworks (toxicity, hallucination, bias, cost governance).
Leading engineering teams, code reviews, solution governance.
Strong hands-on experience in Programming Languages and Analytical/Critical thinking.
Proficiency in Python, which serves as our primary language for artificial intelligence and machine learning initiatives.
A sound understanding of Oracle/SQL, database querying skills and Unix.
Experience with APIs and SDKs to facilitate integration and development.
Understanding of Data Masking and Anonymisation techniques.
Experience with algorithms for Synthetic Data Generation.
Competence in Data modelling and schema design.
Awareness of data privacy regulations such as GDPR and CCPA.
Some other highly valued skills may include:
Familiarity with test data management tools such as Delphix, K2View, GenRocket, Synthesized etc.
Experience in API testing and integration.
Ability to integrate with CI/CD pipelines.
Understanding of Cloud platforms.
Ability to work in Agile environments.
