What Will You Do?
The Physician Extender is responsible for supporting and coordinating physician services for an assigned caseload. Facilitates appropriate care, assists patients and families in finding and negotiating that care. Supports physician service to enhance high physician-patient face to face contact, organize physician service practice, improve physician service effectiveness, improve physician service efficiency, and facilitate physician service communication with patients, families, caregivers, and other treatment staff. Facilitates physician services’ effective us of electronic medical record, including computer order entry, and discharge record processing. Facilitates appropriate utilization of resources and efficient patient progression through the continuum of health care resulting in the highest quality and cost-effective care.
The Physician Extender must demonstrate excellent customer service and have enthusiasm about the program and the Pine Rest organization.

Our comprehensive behavioral health center located in Grand Rapids, Michigan offers psychiatric urgent care, outpatient, inpatient, partial hospitalization (day programs), assessment and testing, residential, addiction treatment and specialty services such as crisis response, employee assistance programs, forensic psychiatry and psychology, neuromodulation and more.
The outpatient network includes offices and teletherapy services throughout Michigan, providing individualized and group therapy for people of all ages and all levels of need.
Our educational programming includes psychiatry residency and fellowships in child & adolescent, addiction and geriatric psychiatry, PA training, psychology internships, rotations for medical learners and a clinical pastoral education program.
Pine Rest is an associate member of the National Network of Depression Centers. Some of our recent research collaborations have included partnerships with Duke University, Fuller Theological Seminary, Mayo Clinic, McLean Hospital, Michigan State University, National Institutes of Health, University of Chicago, University of Michigan and Van Andel Research Institute.
