As a Gelcoat Patcher, you’ll be part of a passionate crew dedicated to restoring the sleek surfaces of America’s finest yachts. In this role, you’ll inspect, repair, and refinish surfaces on various yachts. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, is eager to learn, and has a keen eye for detail. Responsibilities

  • Inspection: Examine parts for mold and lamination defects. Identify gelcoat imperfections and determine appropriate repair methods.
  • Surface Preparation: Grind out defective areas or smooth rough edges using tools like Dremels, grinders, and sanders.
  • Repairs: Cut and apply fiberglass layers to damaged areas and shape to match contours. Perform color matching to ensure consistency with surrounding surfaces.
  • Cosmetic Detailing: Sand, buff, and polish repaired areas to a smooth, high-gloss finish. Perform general cosmetic maintenance.
  • Safety & Quality Compliance: Follow defined instructions, safety rules, and chemical handling protocols.
  • Other: All duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience: Zero (0) to six (6) months of work experience, which can be combined with education. Work experience may be attained through on-the-job training.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift between 25-60 pounds.
  • Certifications: Must hold a valid driver’s license. Vocational education, a plus.
  • Pre-Employment: All applicants must be able to successfully pass a background check as a condition of employment.

Qualifications

  • Skilled in a variety of tools such as tape measure, jigsaw, belt sanders, DA-sanders, grinder, buffer, drill, and Dremel.
  • Continuous mental and visual attention.
  • Ability to work as a team and independently.
