Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to Active Projects: You will apply engineering and design knowledge to real-world projects, gaining hands-on experience with industry’s best practices and our products.
  • Gain End-to-End Exposure: You'll have the chance to see what you've learned in action through field visits and factory tours, giving you a full view of the power grid from design to implementation.
  • Drive Improvement: You'll lead process improvement assignments, putting your teamwork and leadership skills to the test while making a tangible impact on our operations.
  • Learn from the Best: You will be mentored by seasoned engineers who will provide guidance and supervision throughout your journey, helping you master both technical skills and the GE Vernova way of working.
  • Develop Professional Skills: You'll build a strong foundation in corporate and project management through dedicated exposure and a structured workshop.

Skills Developed:

  • Substation Systems Expertise: Go beyond theory to master the engineering of protection, control, physical, and auxiliary systems.
  • Strategic Project Leadership: Learn to coordinate complex projects, analyze critical variables based on real world scenarios, and make impactful decisions that drive project success.
  • Practical Technical Acumen: Gain hands-on expertise in identifying, sizing, and integrating essential equipment.
  • Team & Project Management: Build leadership skills by learning to effectively manage projects and inspire teams to achieve shared goals.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Must be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate degree program.

Accepted majors: Electrical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited university

Other Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be able to speak English fluently.
  • Must be able to travel.

Desired Characteristics: Preference will be given to candidates:

  • Maintain a minimum 3.2 cumulative GPA (4.0 scale, without rounding and not just counting the major courses)
  • With prior internships, co/op, or research experience in the industry.
  • Have demonstrated leadership, an analytic approach to problem solving, have great communication skills, and a passion for power systems.
  • Candidates that have interests in the following areas: power electronics, power systems, and controls.
  • Since the internship will lead to further career development opportunities, it will be preferred that candidates will be required to be able to work in the US without sponsorship.
  • Power system related courses
  • Desired candidates have geographic flexibility and must be willing to relocate to Oakbrook Terrace IL (near Chicago).

The pay range for this position is $1,000-$2,000 USD weekly. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
