Job Description

GE Vernova Advanced Research is the central innovation engine for GE’s portfolio of energy businesses, unified under one banner as GE Vernova.   • As a Mechanical Engineering Intern in the Mechanical Systems and Design team, you will have the opportunity to develop advanced mechanical systems for a broad range of current and future GE Vernova products for the conventional power generation systems. Assignments are typically for 12-14 weeks; working side by side with experts in the field of mechanical design, structural dynamics, advanced manufacturing, and inspection technologies completing challenging technical projects, applying theoretical knowledge to real-life technical problems, and developing skills in a cutting edge global industrial research environment. This program includes seminars on cross-center technology and soft skills development as well as opportunities for networking and showcasing project accomplishments. Roles and Responsibilities

  • Work with industry leading experts to execute design, analysis, and validation of advanced mechanical systems with applications in power generation systems.
  • Strong background in one or more of the mechanical engineering topics including machine design, additive manufacturing, structural mechanics, inspection methods.
  • Collaborate with engineers and scientists from across the Vernova Advanced Research Center and business segments, to advance the energy transition.

Required Qualifications

  • Current enrollment in a full-time Ph.D. degree program in mechanical engineering, or related disciplines at an ABET accredited university.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.

  • Excitement and enthusiasm for growing technical skills in interdisciplinary modeling – coupled structural, thermal, fluids modeling.
    • Hands-on experience in leading small teams.
    • Experience with 3D modeling and finite element analysis tools.
    • Effective presentation and technical communication skills; ability to articulate technical problems in clear and simple terms.

GE Vernova provides travel reimbursement and housing stipend for qualified interns.

Pay for this position varies by undergraduate/graduate degree and experience level. Range is 1,000 - 2,000 weekly.
