Objective:
We are looking for a highly dynamic, motivated, and collaborative person to join our team. We are focused on the
modernization of legacy systems and development of new capabilities of digital solutions in the Operations
Platform team. There is a growing global need within BASF to leverage digitalization to continue BASF's journey
of excellence and continuously improving our capabilities especially through digitalization.
In this role, you will work alongside a global development team to create and iteratively improve upon a global, internal full stack
development solution with a focus on an open source stack and a cloud-based platform.
Main Task:
Own end-to-end delivery of product features (frontend, backend, integration) from discovery through
production support.
Lead solution design and architecture (APIs, service boundaries, data models), ensuring scalability,
maintainability, and security.
Translate business needs into technical requirements; proactively manage trade-offs (scope,
performance, cost, time) with stakeholders.
Set and uphold engineering standards: code reviews, automated testing strategy, performance
benchmarking, and secure coding practices.
Leverage AI-assisted engineering responsibly (e.g., copilots/LLMs) to improve delivery and quality; evaluate and integrate AI capabilities where valuable, ensuring data privacy, security, and model governance.
Design and improve CI/CD pipelines and release processes; drive infrastructure-as-code and
environment standardization.
Own production readiness: observability (logs/metrics/traces), on-call/incident response support, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
Drive modernization of legacy components (refactoring, migration, deprecation) and actively manage technical debt with a clear roadmap.
Mentor engineers through pairing, coaching, and design/code reviews; contribute to hiring, onboarding, and knowledge sharing.
Create and maintain technical documentation (architecture decisions, runbooks, API contracts) and ensure compliance with internal security and quality policies.
