The Specialist ensures supplier readiness, contributes to standardisation of category level sourcing, and supports the execution of mission system procurement packages across UK, Japanese, and Italian workstreams.

The Specialist focuses on delivering rigorous data analysis, supplier coordination, requirement preparation, and category level execution to ensure cost effective, high quality, and schedule aligned procurement outcomes.

The role strengthens the resilience and efficiency of the supply chain through hands on coordination, preparation of category documentation, and adoption of best practice procurement processes for category management, demand aggregation, and strategic sourcing.

  • Monitor supplier performance (quality, cost, delivery schedule, reliability of electronic and software based components) and escalate risks to the Manager for strategic intervention;
  • Ensure process compliance, including export control requirements, cybersecurity obligations, and internal procurement governance;
  • Support the creation of category specific frameworks, templates, and best practices contributing to enterprise level standardisation and cross programme alignment;

Essential Requirements:

  • 3–5 years of procurement or supply chain experience, with demonstrated independence and accountability in operational procurement or category management tasks related to mission system equipment and technologies;
  • Strong skills in requirements consolidation, demand analysis, and supplier coordination within multi programme or multi country environments, particularly for electronics, software driven components, and digital subsystems;
  • Working knowledge of SAP or equivalent procurement systems;
  • Demonstrated capability to apply category management techniques, such as spend analysis, wave planning, and framework adherence;
  • Ability to interpret and apply supplier quality, certification, cybersecurity, and product security requirements across complex mission system categories;
  • Strong collaboration with engineering, operations, and cross functional stakeholders, including software, electronics, and systems integration teams.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Experience supporting strategic sourcing, framework agreement setup, or cross programme procurement harmonisation for mission system technologies such as electronics, software enabled equipment, sensors, and digital subsystems;
  • Familiarity with defence sector supply chain constraints, including stringent compliance, assurance, cybersecurity, and product security requirements relevant to mission critical systems;
  • Prior work on lifecycle cost alignment, design to cost initiatives, or standardisation programmes involving electronic architectures, software baselines, or integrated mission system components;
