Job Description

We are looking for a Flight System SC Manager, who is available for an indicative period of two years in the UK, before returning to one of Leonardo Italia's sites.

Responsibilities

The Flight System Supply Chain (SC) Manager leads the end to end supply chain strategy and execution for all flight system related equipment and technologies, ensuring robust, secure, and high performance supply ecosystems that enable the delivery of advanced defence and aerospace capabilities.

The role consolidates and manages procurement demand across flight system work packages, ensures supplier readiness for complex mechanical, hydraulic, electronic, and avionics driven systems, and drives efficiency through standardisation and cross programme alignment.

The role ensures that suppliers meet stringent safety, certification, and reliability requirements while supporting design evolution, lifecycle cost targets, and programme schedule adherence.

As a core contributor to the Edgewing product ecosystem, the Flight System SC Manager drives supply chain resilience, harmonises procurement demand across flight system categories, and enables the delivery of high integrity aerospace systems through close coordination with engineering, operations, and quality.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead procurement strategies, negotiation, and contracting for all flight system categories, ensuring compliance with aerospace regulatory requirements;
  • Consolidate and forecast cross programme demand to optimise purchasing leverage and reduce supply chain complexit;
  • Work with engineering teams to ensure design consistency, minimise variant proliferation, and maintain configuration controlled requirements;
  • Safeguard performance against stringent quality standards, cost targets, reliability metrics, and certification timelines;
  • Manage supplier segmentation, market analysis, negotiation planning, and TCO based decision making;
  • Conduct benchmarking and competitive sourcing events to secure best value outcomes.
  • Deploy scenario modelling, digital procurement tools, and sustainability aligned criteria to support strategic decisions;
  • Build long term partnerships with flight system suppliers to support innovation, reliability and continuous improvement.

Essential Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in supply chain management, with significant exposure to international supply chains;
  • Proven experience working with SAP or similar enterprise resource planning systems;
  • Strong understanding of contracts, cost structures, export/import regulations, product security, and quality requirements;
  • Extensive practical experience in supply chain activities, with emphasis on hands on expertise over formal academic qualifications;
  • Proven ability to manage supplier risk, lead strategic sourcing processes, and balance cost, quality, and service performance;
  • Strong understanding of cost structures, regulatory constraints, safety requirements, and certification driven quality processes.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Background in defence related supply chain environments. While advantageous, this is not a mandatory requirement;
  • Familiarity with digital supply chain platforms, automation;
  • Expertise in supplier negotiation, category strategy execution, market intelligence, and stakeholder management is considered core to this role;
  • Understanding of aerospace procurement challenges such as long lead times, stringent regulatory compliance, and supply base fragility;
  • Understanding of flight system related product lifecycles (mechanical, hydraulic, electronic, and avionics systems) and associated compliance areas such as export controls, airworthiness standards, and product security.

Education Experience is the primary requirement; formal certifications are not mandatory.
