Job Title: Gatehouse Attendant

Reports To: Front Office Manager

Rate of Pay: $17/hour

Shift: Flexible Schedule, must be available to work weekends, evenings, holidays, & special events

Part-time Seasonal

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt/Hourly

The Gate House Attendant plays a vital role in creating a warm and seamless arrival experience for guests, homeowners, and visitors. Serving as the first point of contact at the Resort, this position ensures every interaction reflects Sundance Mountain Resort's Guiding Lights-Welcome, Valued, Inspired. This role combines guest service excellence with safety and security oversight, ensuring all vehicles and guests are greeted, verified, and directed appropriately. The Gate House Attendant acts as the communication hub for arrivals, relaying guest information to the Front Office, Valet, Bell, and Security teams to provide coordinated and anticipatory service.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Arrival & Departure

  • Warmly welcome each arriving guest, homeowner, vendor, and visitor with professionalism and genuine care.
  • Verify reservations or visit purpose, ensuring only authorized vehicles access the Resort.
  • Communicate guest arrival details to Front Office, Valet, and Bell teams for seamless handoff.
  • Provide directions and Resort information, tailoring communication to guest needs.
  • Offer farewells that reinforce Sundance's unique sense of place and connection.

Safety & Security

  • Monitor and track all vehicle and pedestrian traffic entering and exiting the property.
  • Enforce access control protocols in alignment with Resort safety standards.
  • Notify Security or leadership of suspicious activity or safety concerns immediately.
  • Maintain accurate records of all activity logs, incidents, and gate entries.

Communication & Coordination

  • Maintain constant communication via radio and phone with Valet, Bell, and Front Desk teams to ensure readiness for each arrival.
  • Provide real-time updates regarding group arrivals, VIPs, or special service needs.
  • Support coordination during peak periods, ensuring an organized, stress-free guest flow.

Operational Standards

  • Follow Gate House SOPs precisely to ensure consistency and safety.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming gate house environment.
  • Ensure all signage, equipment, and tools are in working order.
  • Assist with weather-related preparation such as snow removal around gate house entry points.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Prior guest service, hospitality, or customer-facing experience.
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
  • Detail-oriented with strong situational awareness.
  • Availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Preferred:

  • Experience in a luxury resort or Forbes Travel Guide-rated property.
  • Background in security, valet, or transportation operations.
  • Physical Requirements
  • Stand and sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including snow and cold temperatures.
  • Lift up to 30 lbs. occasionally (signage, equipment, etc.).
