Job Description

A public sector client of ours is seeking a Gate Attendant to join their team on projects across Limerick and Clare.

This role offers an hourly rate of €14 - €16 per hour

This is an agency contract role, with up to 24 months of work ahead.

Responsibilities
To control and monitor access to and from a construction site, ensuring site security, safety
compliance, and accurate recording of personnel, visitors, and vehicle movements. The
Gate Attendant plays a key role in maintaining a secure and organised site environment and
supporting overall site safety management.

1. General Duties

• Control all access and egress at the designated site entrance(s).
• Verify identification and authorisation of all personnel entering the site.
• Maintain a daily register of site operatives, visitors, subcontractors, and delivery personnel.
• Provide clear directions and information in a professional and courteous manner.
• Ensure all visitors sign in and receive appropriate site induction or safety briefing before entry.
• Prevent unauthorised access to the site.

2. Vehicle & Delivery Management

• Record and monitor all vehicle movements entering and exiting the site.
• Direct delivery vehicles to appropriate unloading areas in coordination with site supervisors.
• Ensure drivers comply with site traffic management plans.
• Check delivery documentation and notify relevant site personnel of arrivals.
• Assist in managing queuing and safe manoeuvring of heavy goods vehicles where necessary.

3. Health & Safety Responsibilities

• Undertake work in accordance with site-specific Safe Systems of Work, Risk Assessments, and the Safety Statement.
• Adhere to all company and statutory safety policies, including safe systems of work, PPE, manual handling, and working at height procedures.
• Ensure all personnel entering site are wearing appropriate PPE in accordance with site rules.
• Report unsafe behaviour, hazards, or breaches of site rules to the Site Supervisor or Foreperson.
• Monitor and report adverse weather impacts affecting safe site access.

4. Security & Site Monitoring

• Monitor site perimeter access points and ensure gates remain secure when not in active use.
• Conduct periodic visual checks of fencing and hoarding integrity.
• Report suspicious activity or security concerns immediately.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures at the start and end of the working day.
• Maintain secure storage of access logs and records.

5. Administrative Duties

• Maintain accurate daily attendance and visitor logs (manual or electronic systems).
• Record delivery dockets and maintain documentation for audit purposes.
• Assist with incident reporting where required.
• Support compliance with organisational policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years’ experience working on construction sites2. Valid Safe Pass and Manual Handling certification.
• Good organisational skills
• Commitment to teamwork and safe work practices.
