POSITION SUMMARY

The Gas Technican is responsilbe to perform routine inspection, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of gas-related equipment and systems throughout the property. This includes LPG/gas supply systems, gas pipelines, regulators, valves, gas-fired kitchen equipment, boilers, water heaters, dryers, and other gas-operated appliances and equipment.

Conduct regular safety inspections to identify gas leaks, defective equipment, damaged pipelines, faulty regulators, unsafe connections, or other potential hazards. Perform preventative maintenance, cleaning, adjustment, lubrication, and replacement of approved components as required. Maintain appropriate inventories of gas-related parts, fittings, tools, and safety equipment, and requisition supplies as needed.

Maintain daily logs of inspections, maintenance activities, gas readings, test results, equipment malfunctions, repairs, and safety-related activities. Respond appropriately to gas leaks, equipment failures, and emergency situations in accordance with property emergency procedures.

Follow all company, engineering, safety, security, environmental, and regulatory policies and procedures. Properly handle and store flammable and hazardous materials and ensure gas cylinders and related equipment are stored and secured in accordance with applicable safety requirements.

Develop and maintain positive working relationships with associates and departments, communicate clearly and professionally, and support the Engineering team in achieving common goals. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance. Visually inspect equipment and perform tasks requiring fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, bending, twisting, reaching, pulling, and stooping. Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.

CRITICAL TASKS Safety and Security
  • Follow all applicable hazardous material and gas safety procedures when handling LPG, gas cylinders, chemicals, lubricants, and other potentially hazardous materials.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify gas leaks, damaged pipes, faulty valves, defective regulators, unsafe connections, or other hazardous conditions.
  • Immediately report gas leaks, serious equipment malfunctions, fire hazards, accidents, injuries, or unsafe working conditions to the manager/supervisor and take appropriate action in accordance with emergency procedures.
  • Use appropriate gas detection equipment, testing instruments, tools, and personal protective equipment (PPE) when performing work.
  • Ensure proper isolation of gas supply before carrying out maintenance, repair, or replacement work and follow Lockout/Tagout procedures where applicable.
  • Ensure gas cylinders are correctly secured, stored, transported, and handled in accordance with property procedures and applicable regulations.
  • Maintain awareness of fire and explosion hazards and ensure that ignition sources are controlled when working on or near gas systems.
  • Complete all required safety training, technical certifications, and emergency response training relevant to the position.
  • Follow property-specific emergency procedures for gas leaks, fires, evacuations, natural disasters, and other emergencies.
  • Follow company and department safety and security policies and procedures to maintain a clean, safe, and secure work environment.

  • Protect the privacy and security of guests and coworkers.
  • Protect company tools, gas detection equipment, testing instruments, machinery, and other assets in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Follow all company, department, engineering, environmental, and safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary materials and information.
  • Ensure uniform, nametag, and personal appearance are clean, hygienic, professional, and in compliance with company standards.
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.
Communication
  • Exchange information with Engineering associates, supervisors, contractors, and other departments using appropriate communication devices, including radios, telephones, and email.
  • Clearly communicate equipment faults, gas safety concerns, maintenance requirements, and repair status to relevant personnel.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate maintenance reports, inspection records, test results, and work orders.
  • Provide assistance and technical guidance to coworkers regarding the safe operation and maintenance of gas-related equipment.
  • Communicate professionally with associates, contractors, and guests when responding to maintenance concerns.
Working with Others
  • Support all coworkers and treat them with dignity and respect.
  • Develop and maintain positive and productive working relationships with Engineering associates, kitchen teams, contractors, and other hotel departments.
  • Partner with and assist others to promote teamwork and achieve common operational and safety goals.
  • Coordinate with supervisors and relevant departments to schedule maintenance and minimize disruption to hotel operations.
Physical Tasks
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Visually inspect gas systems, tools, equipment, pipelines, valves, regulators, and appliances to identify defects or hazards.
  • Grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying sizes and weights, requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
  • Work safely in mechanical rooms, kitchens, service areas, outdoor locations, and other areas where gas-related equipment is installed.
Install, Maintain, and Repair Gas Systems and Equipment
  • Inspect, test, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair LPG and gas supply systems, pipelines, valves, regulators, manifolds, fittings, and associated equipment.
  • Conduct gas leak detection and pressure testing using approved testing instruments and procedures.
  • Inspect and maintain gas-fired appliances and equipment, including commercial kitchen equipment, boilers, water heaters, dryers, and other property equipment as applicable.
  • Replace defective or worn components, including valves, regulators, hoses, fittings, ignition components, burners, and other approved parts.
  • Ensure all gas connections and equipment are installed, maintained, and repaired according to applicable technical standards, manufacturer specifications, and property procedures.
  • Isolate and shut down gas systems safely before conducting maintenance or repair work.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on gas-related tools, equipment, and systems, including cleaning, inspection, adjustment, and lubrication where applicable.
  • Ensure gas detection devices and testing equipment are properly maintained, calibrated, and ready for use.
Maintain Building and Property
  • Conduct routine inspections of gas storage areas, pipelines, equipment rooms, kitchens, and other locations containing gas-operated equipment.
  • Identify, locate, and understand the operation of emergency gas shut-off valves and isolation points.
  • Ensure gas storage and distribution areas remain clean, secure, properly ventilated, and free from unnecessary ignition sources.
  • Report serious maintenance problems, unusual findings, gas-related hazards, or equipment failures immediately to the manager/supervisor.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels of gas-related spare parts, fittings, tools, testing equipment, and PPE.
  • Requisition approved parts and supplies as needed to support preventative and corrective maintenance activities.
Maintain Records or Logs
  • Maintain accurate daily logs of gas system inspections, maintenance activities, repairs, safety checks, pressure tests, leak tests, and equipment readings.
  • Record equipment malfunctions, corrective actions, parts used, test results, and maintenance work completed.
  • Complete work orders and maintenance documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain records of gas cylinder inspections, replacements, servicing, and other required safety activities.
  • Report recurring equipment issues and recommend preventative or corrective actions to the Engineering Supervisor or Manager.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Education

Technical, Trade, or Vocational School Degree in Gas Fitting, Plumbing, Mechanical Engineering, Refrigeration, Electrical/Mechanical Trade, or a related technical discipline preferred.

Relevant recognized gas fitting or gas technician certification/licensing, where required by applicable local regulations, is preferred.

Related Work Experience

At least 2 years of related work experience in gas fitting, gas systems maintenance, mechanical maintenance, facilities engineering, hospitality engineering, or a similar technical field.

Experience working with LPG systems and commercial gas-fired equipment is preferred.
