About this position:

The Gas Supply Manager will be responsible for developing natural gas supply strategies and directing natural gas supply activities in NorthWestern's Service territories. Tasks include procuring and nominating natural gas with natural gas suppliers and transportation partners for delivery to NorthWestern's distribution system. Additional duties include contract administration of supply and transportation contracts, approving invoices, preparing written testimony, and creating monthly and annual regulatory filings.

About this job:

  • Develop and implement gas supply strategies across NorthWestern Energy's service territories
  • Negotiate and procure daily and long-term gas requirements for Northwestern gas load and electric operations
  • Transport procured supply from third-party pipelines to NorthWestern Energy's distribution system
  • Coordinate supply changes to natural gas pipelines
  • Oversee administration of gas supply, transportation, storage, and other contracts
  • Analyze supply and transportation invoices for accuracy and coordinate for payment
  • Create and submit monthly and annual regulatory reports
  • Effectively communicate natural gas supply activities to internal management and regulatory authorities
  • Prepare written testimony and testify before regulatory commissions
  • Release excess pipeline capacity
  • Review, monitor and participate in rate cases filed by pipelines; determine effect on pipeline operations and rates
  • Review Federal Energy Regulatory Commission rulings; determine effect on operations
  • Keep current on tariff changes, rules and regulations on all pipelines Northwestern operates on
  • Additional duties as assigned

Am I right for this job? Here's the success profile:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or technical school with 5 years of related experience in commodities markets and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience in commodities markets
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret tariffs, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, regulators, and the general public
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
