Job Title: Gas Plant Operator

Location: Dry Creek Landfill – Eagle Point OR
Company: Rogue Waste Systems
Job Type: Full-Time

Work Schedule: 40hrs Per week. (Weekly Schedule Varies)

On-Call: Position Requires One 24/7 On-Call Week Per Month. [Required]

Starting Pay: $35.00-$48.00/hr + Bonus

Probationary Period: 90 Days

Drug and alcohol testing: Subject to pre-employment drug testing and random selection drug and alcohol testing per DOT requirements and Company policy.

The Plant Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable day-to-day operation of the plant and associated equipment. This position monitors system performance, performs routine inspections, supports maintenance activities, and helps ensure compliance with site operating procedures, safety requirements, and environmental regulations. The ideal candidate is dependable, mechanically inclined, and able to work independently while communicating effectively with supervisors, technicians, contractors, and other site personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate plant equipment and systems in accordance with established procedures, operating limits, and safety requirements.
  • Perform routine rounds, inspections, readings, and checks on plant equipment, instrumentation, and process systems.
  • Monitor plant performance and notify management of abnormal conditions, alarms, equipment failures, or production issues.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues by identifying abnormal conditions, isolating causes, implementing corrective actions within assigned authority, and escalating unresolved problems to management or maintenance personnel.
  • Support startup, shutdown, and process adjustments to maintain safe and efficient plant operations.
  • Complete routine preventive maintenance tasks and assist maintenance staff or contractors during repairs and outages.
  • Maintain accurate operating logs, inspection records, maintenance notes, and other required plant documentation.
  • Follow site environmental, health, and safety policies and participate in safety meetings, audits, and training activities.
  • Housekeep work areas and maintain the plant in a clean, organized, and inspection-ready condition.
  • Coordinate with site personnel, technicians, and contractors to support plant reliability and overall site goals.
  • Assist with inventory tracking and communicate supply or parts needs to supervision.
  • Respond to call-outs, emergencies, and off-hours operational needs as required.

Job Requirements:

  • Valid Driver’s License with Clean Driving Record. (Required)

  • Must pass criminal background check, drug panel screening and motor vehicle report to be eligible for employment.
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training, trade school, or related college coursework is preferred.
  • Experience in plant operations, industrial equipment, landfill gas systems, utility systems, mechanical maintenance, or a similar industrial environment is preferred.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and the ability to use hand tools and perform routine equipment checks.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, or process issues and communicate findings clearly to supervisors or maintenance staff.
  • Ability to read gauges, meters, operating procedures, and basic technical documents.
  • Strong attention to safety, detail, and good judgment in responding to changing operating conditions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and basic computer skills for logs, email, and monitoring systems.
  • Experience with SCADA, PLC interfaces, monitoring systems, or computerized maintenance systems is desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in an active industrial setting.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform the physical requirements of the position.
  • Availability for on-call support, overtime, weekends, holidays, or varied schedules as needed.
