Job Description

Power your future with Qualus as a Gas Pipeline Designer on our underground Transmission Engineering Team. You will be responsible for developing natural gas designs using Civil 3D at the direction of the Gas Design Manager, assisting with the development of design standards and templates, & executing the company QA/QC program.

Responsibilities

  • Execute gas distribution designs for our utility clients.

  • Perform daily work in AutoCAD &/or Civil 3D. Navigate client's GIS system to understand existing gas distribution system.

  • Interpret construction documents to compile relevant information for distribution designs.
  • Participate in the quality assurance/quality control program to deliver industry-leading design products.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of industry standards or codes.
  • Recognizes the technical needs of a drawing or project and acts on those needs.
  • Performs quality checks the final drawing package.
  • Collaborate with engineers and managers in service lines to leverage the provide cross-functional support.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited institution or related experience (experience can substitute for degree)
  • 1-4 years of experience in gas design for Public Utilities including an understanding of basic gas design concepts and natural gas pipelines
  • 1+ years of experience in Autodesk products, AutoCAD experience. Civil 3D design experience is preferred
  • Ability to interpret construction documents to compile relevant information for design projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret civil engineering plans, specifications, and drawings.
  • Specific experience in plan/profile development, Metering & Regulation (M&R) station design, automation design & In-Line Inspection (ILI) design is preferred
  • Ability to be self-sufficient and proactive.
  • Great attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
