JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the daily inspection and overall upkeep and maintenance of flowers and shrubbery of the hotel building and grounds.
  • Clean & care of property tools and equipment to ensure they are maintained in a safe, clean and neat condition.
  • Perform a range of landscaping operations that may include using garden and landscaping equipment for planting, watering, pruning, trimming, installation of plant material, care of flowers and bedding plants.
  • Repair damaged grounds areas.
  • Awareness to notify management of any repairs needed (lighting, public areas, parking lot, etc.).
  • Spread fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, and trees.
  • Attend safety meetings & other related meetings.
  • Respond to guest requests and questions and report guest issues and complaints in a hospitable manner to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • No formal education required
  • Previous experience in similar role/landscaping preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to operate various types of power equipment including lawnmowers, trimmers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, and other landscaping equipment.
  • Ability to use hand tools required for landscaping.
  • Ability to follow instructions and complete assignments.
  • Knowledge of landscaping techniques and processes.
  • Excellent time management skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Prolonged periods walking, standing, bending, stretching, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, or kneeling. 
  • Must be physically able to operate power equipment. 
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time. 
  • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions. 

ENVIRONMENT

  • Outside 80% of working shift. 
  • Exposure to both stable and extreme variance of hot and cold temperatures. 
  • Outside exposure to all weather elements and extreme fluctuations of temperature. 
  • Prolonged standing, walking, bending, reaching, and heavy lifting.
